Solomani Type SA Free Trader design question

Hi all,

I am working on the stats for the Solomani Type SA Free Trader from DGP's Solomani & Aslan (page 42). The ship is kind of unique, as it has a sub-craft (20-dTon Launch) docked in its nose. Looking through the High Guard rules, I am wondering how best to reproduce that.

Originally, I was planning to use Docking Space. However, it states: "When sealed, the docking space completely covers the auxiliary ship."

It certainly isn't a Full Hangar "a full hangar allows for repairs and maintenance of the craft when it is on board its mother ship. <snip> A full hangar consumes an amount of tonnage equal to twice that of the craft it contains (round up to the nearest ton)."

That leaves a Docking Clamp, which seems to fit. However, "A docking clamp allows a spacecraft to carry another vessel on the exterior of its hull, typically a small craft such as a ship’s boat or fighter. <snip> Docking clamps can be added to streamlined ships but the ship becomes unstreamlined when another ship is docked to it."

The Solomani Type SA is streamlined.

I am looking for any recommendations on how best to reproduce the ship in the picture (credit to Ian Stead).

Thanks

- Kerry

You could wave the hand and say the docking clamp is recessed and the ship is still streamlined without it nestled into place.
