First time game fleet review and adive requested - Kzinti

Hi all! I have my first game this coming weekend and wanted run a few lists by you all. It’s a 1,300 point game with Kzinti (me) vs. Klingons (he has played a few times already). It’s a friendly game so Im not looking for super competitive but would like any feedback on things I should consider as a Kzinti player and/or any suggestions on fleet lists.

From my reading, it seems the Kzinti have a few drones at their disposal :wink: so will be focusing on that. My general plan (as much as one can plan without knowing the opposing fleet list, terrain, etc.) is to keep range for a turn or two and try and knock an enemy ship or two out of the game with concentrated drone fire (Im not sure how succesful I will be in keeping range with Klingons but one can hope). Hopefully by the time he has closed with me, I will have killed one or two of his with no losses to me (I feel like I can handle any return Drone fire with my ADD/Phaser 3/Tractor Beams plus can do defensive special actions as needed). By the time he closes, I’ll adjust accordingly (lots of stuff will die then Im sure :) ).

We will probably play the basic ACTA scenario so will just be scored on VP.

If you are planning on keeping away and using Drones then avoid Lumbering ships. If you really want to annoy him drop some of those

32+ Drones will utterly kill one Klink ship, and generally have enough left over to chew on a second.

If you can keep away and maintain that level of drones by the time he gets close enough to do some real damage he should be down three ships (maybe 4 if you use leftover Drone fire each turn to crush an E4/F5).

Also many of your Disruptors have F/P and F/S arcs meaning you can fire some sideways along with the Drones, with a bit of deft moving you can run away and still get in some disruptors.

Also also split up with the fast small ships, a few FFs or Agile ships off to the edge will either draw a bunch of Klinks off your main force or be ignored and get rear Drone shots on the other Klinks.

The Klinks will probably be doing what everyone else does when faced with a 30 Drone Kzinti fleet, hiding behind the terrain :roll: :wink:

Aside from that have fun :lol:
 
Don't forget that you can use All Power to Engines to help keep the distance open, and you can still fire drones (I think your phasers will be out of action, so make sure you have plenty of ADDs).
 
Avoid lumbering against the Klingons as they are likely to be all agile and you want to keep your distance until you've chewed him up.
