Squadron boxes 3, 4, 7 and 10 are on the release schedule now. Here are the contents and a brief write up.
Squadron box 3 - Raiders and Traders
Ships - Kzinti BC, Kzinti FF, Tholian Patrol Corvette, Orion Raider, Small Freighter, Large Freighter, BATS.
Points - 4 different fleets are present - Kzinti - 320, Tholian - 70, Orion - 125, Freighters - 30, BATS - 375.
I don't know if this will include the BATS, Matt may be able to answer as we haven't seen any renders. The fleet is a good buy for Kzinti players, as it gives you two ships, two civilian ships for scenarios, two ships to trade if you don't want to keep them and possibly a BATS for scenarios. A good box for a gaming group to share.
Squadron 4 - Deep Space Convoy
Ships - Federation Kirov Battlecruiser, Federation Police Ship, Kzinti NCA, Tholian Destroyer, 2 Free Traders
Points - Federation - 325, Kzinti - 170, Tholian - 105, Civilian - 50
Another mix. The Federation get two ships, there are two civilians, and you've got a Kzinti and a Tholian. A good box for a group to split.
Squadron box 7 - Federation reinforcements
Ships - Federation Class DNG, Kirov Class Battlecruiser, Chicago Class NCA, Kearsage Class NCL and Ortega Class DW.
Points - 1025
NCAs, NCLs and DWs are all £10 each, so if you want just these three ships this squadron box is worth it. The inclusion of a BCH makes it a bargain whether you went with a fleet box or squadron box for your starting fleet. I would highly recommend it to Federation players.
Squadron - 10 - Convoy FG-17
Ships - Federation Strike Cruiser, Federation Battle Frigate, Gorn CL, Romulan Snipe, Heavy Freighter
Points - Federation - 295, Romulan - 120, Gorn - 175, Civilian - 20
Another Federation dominated mix box, but good for a club or someone who knows a Romulan and Gorn player.
These mix boxes line up with the ADB boxes, but some fun can be had with them in using them for scenarios.
There will be players who also got the boxes and want different bits of them. I certainly want Tholians and don't want Kzinti, for example, so a Kzinti player could swap me a PC for an FF, for example.
The Federation only set makes a good alternative starter squadron in comparison to squadron box 1.
