Fighter question from a local idiot :)

Ok, I'm still a newbie in many regards to ACTA and fighters are something I still have not got my head around. I have two questions really about them. The first is when fighteres are in escort of a ship can all the supporting fighters be attacked by opposing fighters and completely removed from the escort with dogfight?

THe second question is about supporting fighters in dogfights, the rules say a supporting ship can not dogfight but it doesn't say whether or not they can be engaged themselves. Better way to put it, if the fighter is engaged is its support removed and the counter moved away to enage in this new dogfight?

First, yes they can.

Second, yes a fighter that is supporting another fighter can be engaged directly in a dogfight.

Just realised this was answered in the rulesmasters board lol

I'll hope over there instead, thanks for the help so far though :)

Nope, if it's being attacked in a dogfight it is a bit too busy to support the other guy...

I'd go one further. By being in the dogfight, it is supporting the other guy - that's its job as support! If the enemy fighter doesn't dogfight it, but instead tries to attack what it is supporting, it will then move to dogfight the enemy. What it can't do is intercept incoming fire against what it is supporting - it's only allowed to do that if it is not involved in a dogfight.

As for support in a dogfight, that's a different meaning of "support". No fighter may be attacked more than once in a dogfight, so if you have more than one fighter in base contact with one enemy fighter, one of yours will attack, the rest will support. A fighter which has been used for support like this can not then make an attack. Which of your fighters are attacking and which are supporting only counts when it is your turn to declare attacks. When the other player is declaring attacks, it's effectively reset as he decides which of your fighters to attack and with what. If one of your fighters is attacked, it can not be used to support another fighter which is being attacked.

Once in a dogfight, there are only two ways a counter can be moved. Either the dogfight finishes and it is free to move again; or it is moved off the table entirely, having been destroyed. :)

As for Rulesmasters, there may indeed be a similar question there, but here is still a better place for discussion. ;)
