Excel Ship Designer v2026.01.22

It wouldn't be hard to increase a feline's intelligence and add the science calcuating augment and bam, feline domesticus astrgogata. :) (I'm sure my genus naming is incorrect but I like it anyway.)
I imagine that the Solomani would, given funding, give such astrogating sociopaths a whirl. Especially if it turned out that you could train them not to randomly push things off tables for the lulz.

Error on 3-Pwr Plant cell H20, size for Jump Collectors. Should be =IF(AND('2-Drives'!B29=" No FTL",'2-Drives'!B56=" No FTL"),0,IF(MAX('2-Drives'!D29,'2-Drives'!D56)=0,0, (MAX('2-Drives'!D29,'2-Drives'!D56)*(0.01*'2-Drives'!B4)+5)*D20*INDEX(S16:U17,MATCH(C20,S16:S17,0),2)))

Currently it has C4 instead of '2-Drives'!B4 so it is only charging 5 tons each.

Where can I find Morale information relating to common area available?
There is a bit in HG on page 24 about common area. It is left pretty open for the GM. There are a couple adventures where crew Fatigue is an issue. Last Flight of the Amaur for one. I am pretty sure there is another set of rules for it in another book as well. In Last Flight it does not mention the common areas though.

COMMON DECENCY
Designing a ship with less than the
recommended common area space is tempting,
especially when space is at a premium and
the designer wants to fit in as many options as
possible. However, ships that do not include a
recreational area for their crews to unwind often
pay the consequences. Crew fatigue can set in
for personnel who have been aboard ship too
long without a suitable place to relax other than
their staterooms. Initially this might be irritability
and a lack of cooperativeness but eventually
could affect efficiency and performance, resulting
in negative DMs on skill checks.

I'm back to building ships on the spreadsheet (my, the new version has lots of stuff on it I don't remember!). Great stuff - thank you.

I have noticed a typo on tab 9b. Cell A35 has "Ceremonial" spelled with a letter missing.

If I can recommend- the rules for Comfort in the new Vehicle Handbook 2026 work exceptionally well for starships and other spacecraft- to the point where I tossed my long-used version derived from 2300AD for @Geir's new set completely.

I have added this into my Excel:
Cell C37 is Required Space (aka # crew members or passengers- I calculate them differently)
Cell D37 is total number of Comfort Points produced by the Components
Cell E37 is C37/D37 to get Raw Comfort Value
Cell F37 is the Actual Comfort Rating with the formula below
=IF(E37<0.5,"Intolerable",IF(E37<1,"Uncomfortable Seating",IF(E37<=1.25,"Basic Seating",IF(E37<1.5,"Long Duration Seating",IF(E37<2,"Extended Seating",IF(E37<4,"Basic Comfort",IF(E37<8,"Standard Comfort",IF(E37<24,"Good Comfort",IF(E37<40,"Excellent Comfort","Luxury Comfort")))))))))

Can a planetoid hull be used for small craft, with the normal reduction to usable space? I don't see any restrictions in High Guard on it, but the spreadsheet's summary page fails if you use a planetoid hull under 100 tons. Set as station or ship for the design type. I'm trying to build a small, cheap as possible sensor platform and then ultralight fighters with planetoid hulls.

With a Firmpoint Barbette on a small craft, the Torpedo option doesn't say Barbette like the rest of the choices for weapons and it doesn't add the extra 2 tons that should be added similar to Missile Barbettes on firmpoints.

Just wanted to point out that I have submitted by write-up about Comfort in Spacecraft to Mongoose for consideration as a JTAS article. Thanks for all the interest.
