Evo wishlist

the Evo line is going to get all the models re-sculpted if i understand, right?. it offers posibility to change, to a degree, at least, some of the models/parts that have been less than stellar in the current line.
so,yeah, here's the wishlist to let you vent all your creative ideas. who knows, maybe the Company will hear us, and at least use some of the ideas?
my wishlist right now is rather short
MI:
ONE design of the Caps. perferrably the Roughneck's models one. right now the line is inconsistent like there's no tommorow.
if possible add some details to the grenade launcher, it's too plain right now.

transfer sheet with some random/popular markings like platoon patches etc.

Bugs-add detail to the tanker-its a big model, and right now he looks really plain. nothing big or complicated, no drastic changes, just something to break the monotony of the large flat area of the umm...whatever the main body of a bug is called in english

im afraid that theyve stated that certain sculpts will not be changed...

cap troopers, Marauders, warrior bugs, and tankers were all mentioned.

MY HOPES and DREAMS:

Please make Blister bugs better/meaner looking, and more for the buck and useful

Please make blaster bugs actually a different model, with useful stats.

Please make Spider Bugs look better, useful stats, more for the buck... OR very very useful and Not more for the buck.

Please make Guard Bugs look less like insectoid rock golems.

Please make Cliff Mites cheaper

So much more...

Blister and Blaster bugs are effectively the same insect, according to the canon laid down, Gauntlet.

Anyway, mine would be:

Old rule set stats for new miniatures

Really depends on your opinion- the Blaster Bug only appeared twice in the CGI (which IMO is the ultimate canon for their species since it is original)

The first was the one CHAS destroyed and notably while it looked identical - it was nearly double the height of the CHAS... and its blast was extremely powerful

the second appearance showed smaller ones... presumably less grown doing the same thing as the largest... after that it was always blister bugs...

I think we could keep the current blaster as the small version, but have a new unit that is about twice as big, and much more powerful. At any rate... the current blister bug is utterly useless when compared to the Fire Fry.

oh I can win with them, that doesnt make them worthwhile.

The Fire Fry has an effective range of 21 Inches, and a reaction will occur AFTER the attack.

Whereas the Blister Bug Threat Range is only 18 inches *1 move and then shoot. The shooting occurring from 12 inches away, which means that in many cases units will react before the shot is fired. Depending on terrain, as well as units with increased reaction range. -Also that initial move may be halved depending on terrain.

Depending on how you handle Jump and LOS, most players I know measure the LOS as 6 inches in height, whereas the Blister must stay at level Ground.

Thus the Fire Fry is 21 inches away when it begins movement, ignores difficult terrain modifiers, twice as far litterally (which may matter alot for deployment zone issues) and can measure from 6 inches above terrain. You also gain the Flame trait.

Add ot that the abstract value of being able to jump in from the board edges and strike very similar to Hoppers, and the Fire Fry comes out on top in nearly every way.

The Trade off, Piercing 1, and 1 Kill point and 1 Asv point.... No Flame and you become 1 size larger and thus more vulnerable.

For an EXTRA 10 Points. and -3 inches of threat range... and less literal movement.

No I dont see Blisters as competitive, their only advantage is that you can have more of them- which due to the expense of their models isnt likely for most players, since its 3 to a pack instead of 5 like the Fire Fry.

EDIT:
Now the Blaster Bug is more competitive, as the reaction issue no longer matters with an 18 inch weapon, and the INCREASED threat range of 24 inches... a 3 inch increase... but you still lose the LOS height, 6 inches of movement, and you still deal with difficult terrain, you lose 3 points of max damage, and now you have retaliate... Much closer an issue, but id still go with Fire Frys.

My wish? That the bloke what did the LAMI is allowed to do more (Command, heavier weapons, hell LAMI on Sprites- anything!).

I'd also like cheap dropships. If they are over £20 then I'm off to Old Crow. Hell; loan the liscence out to Old Crow (be a great way to get lots of quick vehicles).

Did somebody say "decals?"

I did 'em last year for virtually every air asset, the CHAS, the Caps, the LAMI, and was working on the Marauders when I was told they wouldn't be used.

Here's the CHAS set:

I'd be really happy if the toothpick legs disapeered from all the human models. The female caps were terrible for it. I'd also like for see more available for pathfinders as well, they need to ooze "badass" from every pore. Combat knives, more dynamic poses, ect.....

Keeps the hoppers. Pretty sculpts.
Micro-support platforms. 'Nuff said.
Better artwork in the books.
Ficition. Where's the back story? People are fighting bugs. Oh look, more aliens. Let's fight them too. We need more than details of the great battles.

Quality control is still my biggest beef with SST. A few mistakes at the begining are perfectly acceptable, but the exosuit debacle never should have been allowed to happen.

NO MORE REDUNDANT UNITS!

There were so many units for the arachnids that were just variations on the warrior with a different size.

The Spider bug was a prime example. They had the perfect opportunity to use the spider bug as a great support/special unit by giving it some sort of web attack or web trap special that could immobilize MI.

It felt like they were just trying to capitolize on stuff shown in the show, padding out the bug army, without actually making them any more interesting than plain warrior bugs.

Well I see only two useless species:
The Spider Bug (those are not only useless, but simply inferior to Warrior Bugs) and the Blister Bugs (though at least you CAN use them).

Another Problem is the Overseer.
It is simply to slow to do anything usefull. Giving it an additional action per turn only usable to manifest a psychic talent would make it a bit more worthy, even if it's still very slow.

Just buy dice without '1's printed on them. Simple, but effective.

My wishlist is replacing my skinnies with good looking ones.

And repainting them if I have the time.

Well tiger warriors could do with slight beef up as well...ATM more of reqular warriors are almost always better. Though this one isn't as bad as spider bug obviously.

One thing I keep thinking is: Does MI get extra action boost ala brain bug in some form? BF:Evo has that in their command squads so maybe MI can get something similar in SST:Evo? Captain would sound where I would put it...Would make it rare(how often you get to field captain anyway?-) and would make it bit more interesting than just 150 pts worth of traits(bad idea most of the time anyway).

Just another wild thought :D

you what beefs up tiger bugs pretty damn nicely-

1. Make it a warrior upgrade (Cost of +10 points)
2. Give them a move of 8 inches not 7.

That makes them very dangerous running out of a bug central or underground.

I would even consider taking away the piercing bonus as it hardly matters compared to speed.
