Docking Space - February Update

Docking space is quicker to get into and out of than a hangar? It is actually just as fast as a Launch tube!!! And a launchtube needs the added space of a full hanger for each ship...

So currently, it is ridiculously more space-efficient for carriers to just use docking spaces than hangars and launch tubes. That would be fine it wasn't for the fact that it is also way more efficient for combat if carriers used docking Spaces :)

Thats a little nutty. Launch tubes should be the 1D minutes (aka 1 combat round) per craft launched. The Docking spaces should be probably be 3D or 4D - this is the get your ship reading, move the buckets and tires out of the way, unhook the anchor (:p ) but etc etc.. the docking space is not your space-fighter-launching mechanism.

I never liked the launch tube rules - far too slow to get reasonable numbers of caft out for the weight you loose. Docking clamps every time!

I'd suggest a bit of a rewrite of this allowing tubes to be lighter, much fast reloading a new craft (this should be conveyer belt stuff, launch, launch, launch, and giving an advantage of being immediately able to allow ships launched through one to able fight in the first round. Keep an advantage over the suggested rules to have ships from clamps not fight ready for a turn.

The problem with launching tubes is recovery, rather than launch.

Has to be the nearest analogy to getting a camel through the eye of a needle.

Pffft... who doesn't have a tractor beam.... oh, hold on :o

Well in the previous edition, using hangars or a normal "space" would take d6 x TEN (10) minutes.
A launch tube was one-combat-round solution :)

As long as we simulate that again its fine - and its really simple to do:
Launch Tube: 1D Minutes
Everything else: 1D x 10 Minutes for example, or 2D minutes or so (that means it's like 2+ combat rounds, so not great for in-combat)
