Do these codes look right?

Stattick

Mongoose
Being a newb, I want to make sure that I'm doing world-gen accurately. Do these numbers look right?

These were all crunched by a spreadsheet I created for the task, so if you see a mistake, please let me know, since it's likely systemic. On the other hand, if you see a pattern that looks suspicious, let me know about that as well, so I can take a closer look at it.

This was created using the system as presented in the playtest doc (version 3.2). It's possible that there might have been some changes to world gen between the playtest and the corebook... I don't have the corebook yet to compare. I would've had it by now, but I had to lay out an unexpected $120 for a bill that I should have been able to off for a week or two.

Well, next payday then.

(gimme a minute to get the codes pasted over)

[strike]Ok, the formatting was coming out all wonky, so I dropped the sector position, the bases, and the GG/asteroid info.[/strike]

EDIT: re-presented... I still can't get it to line up right, but I'm giving up since this is the closest I think I can get. Spent WAY too much time on this.

Oh yeah, no trade codes used since the playtest DOESN'T give rules on how to use them. Hell, it's got two different lists of trade codes that don't even match up to each other. The last digit used is for temp:
F - frozen
I - Icy
T - temperate
H - hot
B - boiling

Wrap the text in [code][/code] tags, and use no tabs, and it should work fine.

Get thee to this link:
http://www.mongoosepublishing.com/pdf/travdevpack.zip

This is the Traveller Developer Pack from Mongoose, in there you'll find the SRD which includes most of the final world generation rules (IIRC the only thing missing - for unknown reasons - is the Environmental Tech Limits table).

Also, I think it'd help if you used two letter codes for the trade codes (Ri for Rich, Po for Poor, As for Asteroid, etc), that's what's been used in the past and it makes it easier to interpret. These codes are listed in the table on last page (before the legalese) in the SRD.

What's all that NTSPG stuff in the middle if you don't use trade codes?

Code:
0410	E002232	9 G,	A	F

That's the only obvious error I can see (without analysing each world) - size 0 worlds have atm 0 and hydro 0 too. Should be E000232-9.

You can figure out the environmental TL limits by looking at the equipment needed to survive there. e.g. if you need a vacc suit to survive in atm 0, then you can't have anyone living there if they don't have the minimum TL to create vacc suits.

Ah... shows what bases are present. Sorry, didn't realize that was a new thing that Mong added to the UPP code.

Ah... hmm, I can't find that in the playtest. They must have added that bit to the corebook. Thank you, I'll adjust my spreadsheet accordingly.

Oh. I guess I'll actually have to read that SRD then. I took one look at it a few days ago, saw that some of the table didn't even go as in-depth as the playtest, and tossed it in my recycle bin as useless. I guess there were a couple of useful bits in there afterall.

Oh... take a look here:
http://traveller.wikia.com/wiki/Universal_World_Profile

This explains the UWP format that's been used in Traveller over the years. Lay your stuff out like that and it'll be easier for everyone to understand.

(it's mentioned in the corebook, dunno about in the SRD).

Alrighty... I'll do that when I get the time. It might be a while though, I have to get ready for work in a little bit. I did get the spreadsheet updated though.
