Mongoose
So why did my thread on the crappy Brain Bug model get deleted?

I guess Mongoose doesn't want criticism on their forms. Can't handle the truth? Deleting discussion about it doesn't change the fact it's the worst model to assemble in the history of miniatures games.

no way that honour belongs to the Screaming Skull Catapult for Warhammer!

It probably got too old. Or unimportant. We have to remember how full this forum would be if they kept all the posts. Why keep bad ones?!

It probably got out of hand. ( I know I was trying to be funny). And got pulled for that...... the topic was done to death a year or so ago so maybe you just bored someone?

Mongoose has never been one to flatten people just for criticising, it will have been something else. Probably just sick of reading such an old complaint.

Read some more of the forum before you start having a go at mongoose.
Seriously, the only place you'll find more anti-mongoose stuff is if:
A) A web site is set up for orphan cobras.
B) Snakes learn to type.

Dude, I have read every page currently and there is no other thread about it currently on the forum. I posted my thread last night, and this morning it's gone.

Last I saw it there were 3 replies, then I went to bed, and this morning it was gone.

If it was old I could understand it, but it was less than 12 hours old.

And the screaming skull catapult has nothing on this model. I've built two of those with no problems.

I was planning on adding to the thread, with a guide on how to build it and work on it, but f**k it

I post threads on Warseer and they drop off into oblivion within weeks. Threads don't stay here forever!

The thread wasn't even 12 hours old when it got booted, so that excuse isn't valid at all.

it took an entire GW shop staff of us to build it plus customers!

one particularly snooty woman once said that the models weren't challenging enough for her child, so I convinced her this was the most awkward model possible and she bought it......and never returned.....

really? sorry to hear that then, I was working off the notion it was from last year

It just kind of irked me this morning as I spent 5 hours on it, posted my thread of irritation at the crappy model. Then I went back to it, spent another 3 hours on it.

Then this morning I was working on a little guide on how to do it. Went to post it into the thread, and it was gone. So I was a bit pissed that I spent 7 hours on the model, plus writing a guide to help out the less experienced (even though it's not necessary anymore because of SST:Evo), and the thread was gone.

It's definately the worst GW model I've had to build. Admittedly they were for friends that had trouble, but I'm damn good at assembling and converting, whereas my painting skills are average.

I've no idea why the topic was dropped, but I have noticed that different people have varied results with the same models. For example, I don't place the Brain Bug as difficult to assemble, but I went at it a bit differently before hearing of others having difficulty with it. While the pieces are not really made to fit well with each other, I used superglue and accelerator to both attach the body pieces to each other as well as act as a filler. I know others have used green putty to help in assembly. Also, over the last year or so some have said the honor of hardest model to assemble belongs to the Tanker. I'll admit that as a Human with only two hands that model can be a bit difficult to build if you are not planning a method to rig the legs to sit in the sockets while you are closing up the two body halves. Just remember that complaining too much about assembly of gaming model kits (I'm not saying this is you) probably had some influence upon Mongoose's decision to switch to preassembled and prepainted gaming models. What this means is that if you are not careful, you just might get what you ask for .

Bah, the brain wasn't too bad. Alot of effort, and a bit of a challenge - mine ended up as much milliput as it was metal, but with some putty and sanding paper and judicious application of both he comes out not looking too bad at all.

Sometimes it's nice to have a more challenging model, I find. But yeah, I wouldn't want to make more than one of them.

Threads generally only get deleted around here if there is a post that involves personal insults against another poster or Mongoose staff member.

Post your guide anyway with a new topic :) At least then your hard work won't go to waste, I would suggest asking it to be put in s&P but its probably a little late now, as the model is rather old and before long will be being replaced with a pre-assemebled one.

Hi Bretan,

You are welcome to raise issues you have had with the brain bug. We have been aware of them for quite a while, and this led us to change the way we have similar models sculpted.

As for your post, it was by no means deleted because of content. It merely hit the sarcasm threshold :)

Well, it can't have been mongoose being all draconian can it? You've bitched about the thread being deleted and they haven't done anything about that?
Maybe it was me commenting on the models resemblence to a dog egg?
Sarcasm threshold exceded

Almost certainly my fault then :)

Basiaclly, glu bit by bit, filling greenstuff in the gaps as you go.
I built it, it took a long time, but no real problems. :)

No problems then. It was just last I saw it (North American time) was before I went to bed, and it seemed pretty tame, then when I woke up it was gone. So I was a little curious what was happening.
