Darkness Rising - yet more ships!

Da Boss

Mongoose
Hi all some more Ships from Darkness Rising:

Dominator Class Fleet Carrier (EA) / War
The latest and largest design from Morden Innovations Inc., the Dominator continues their trademark look, coupling speed with superior manoeuvrability. The largest version of its kind, only three have yet been produced as resources were switched to the production of the new EA flagship. A departure from standard EA strategy, the Dominator is designed to be equally effective in combat as its fighter compliment

Exterminator Class Assault Cruiser (EA) / Battle
Following the success of the Shadow Star, production of the Exterminator was quickly approved. A larger vessel, it was designed to be the last word in assault cruisers and quickly proved its worth against the Vree. Able to match their manoeuvrability and with the weapons of the ancients, the Captains of those few ships in service are now looking for a real challenge. As they hear reports of the new Minbari ships, it seems they will get their wish……

Seeker Class Scout / Battle (Vorlon)
Whilst other races rely on scouts that are hidden by stealth fields and advanced jamming technology, the Vorlon Seeker shows its superior heritage in its disdain for hiding. Occasionally seen outside Vorlon space, it inspects and monitors the growth of young races, especially those who they have chosen for future advancement or been corrupted by ancient enemies. It retains the ability to destroy any which seek to challenge or follow it and none can hide from its vision.

Veshitan Advanced Gunship / Battle
(Minbari)
Built at the behest of the Warrior Caste who were keen to see the Neshatan’s capabilities grafted onto a faster, and therefore more flexible ship. Superseded by more recent hulls, venerable ships were chosen to have the honour of being one of the first Minbari cruisers to mount a weapon of Vorlon design. Despite the difficulty of screening the massive power requirements of the Lightning Cannon, the Warrior Caste have, once again, high hopes for the Veshitan

Enjoy – or not!

They look cool. The tenticales on the vorlon ship make it look even more organic and alive. It looks like a scout that might actually go right up to something to investigate it. Just out of interest why do you always take photos of your ships on your blue jersey?

cos I am lazy :D and it is still there from last time! I have not managed to drill (  ) the holes for the bases yet either - be nice if a ship arrived that I could put a stand straight into!

re the Seeker - Dryad heads make (I think) cool tenticles...........

have fun!

Hey guys, you get a much stronger ship to base contact if you drill and pin the ships the bases as a matter of course.

Cut off the nub of the flying base to leave a flat surface. Drill into this and the figure at whatever point you want the base to fit, and pin them together. much stronger fit.

With a decent hand drill it doesn't even take that long!

Hmm yes - its just that I am used to the GW ships where I just put the stand in - although they all have probs with stands breaking - Pinning is beyond me I am afraid - and touch wood I have not needed it yet. Hand drill - yes - found out that electric drills go through ships

My new ships I don't glue the stands and don't have projections on the bottom of the ships which makes transportation easier.

I still would rather have ships that have proper holes in them!

but anyway did you like my ships (or jumper!)

have fun :D

The advantage of pinning is that you can mount the ship at an angle, getting ships that are climbing, banking and the likes, which gives them a great sense of movement on the table. I've got to the stage where I don't even check to see if a normal base would fit, I just cut it down, drill and pin as a matter of course.

Liked the first and the last of the four. I would have tried to have the Vorlon discharge guns mounted further forward, so they were supported away from the hull on the arms myself.

Presume the fluff is home written to cover the models and not at all 'cannon'.

Your ships sound cool - although I can manage some interesting positions with mine and blue tac :D

yeah the ships and fluff are for my "Darkness Rising" alt setting, in no way at all official!

See what you mean about the Veshitan :)

'Fraid I've still not got act together to get my ships onto the net to show you, but yes it can make an otherwise dull ship look a lot better.

Also makes for much more durable models as well, and as I end up providing all the models for most of our games, durability is a big plus.

Hi depends on my budget for the month - just got the above plus a few others and 2nd ed next month................... :D
