Mongoose
I noticed this when reading RPG.net reviews about the new Rune Quest.

How come there is no word about Steve Perrin, Greg Stafford and the other creators of the original Rune Quest? It's like the nearly 30 year history of the product has not happened.

Parhaps I'm being terribly academic about this, but it seems wrong to just pretend that the venerable game has no history and no other creators than those of Mongoose.

Oh. I didn't think a link was necessary since the point was not the reviews but the topic raised in them. I can hunt the review link if you want, but you can propably find it as well as me by going to the rpg.net pages and searching for runequest

IIRC In my (I think it was the Monsters book) there is a special thanks to Greg Stafford on the very first page and I seem to remember that either the core rules or the Companion had a paragraph very early on in the text, saying that RuneQuest was the brainchild of Greg Stafford some decades ago. Don't have my books with me right now, so I have to rely on my memmory, which is know to have failed me before :)

I think all of the Glorantha-specific books contain a "Special Thanks" to Greg Stafford. Not sure about the core and non-Gloranthan books, though.

I think I saw a thread that mentioned this over at RPG back when the core book came out. There is some speculation as to why Steve Perrin wasn't in the credits. I think Steve himself chimed in on that thread.

Ok. I'm releaved to hear that.

RQ has a long history, and it would be a shame not to acknowledge that. I'm only buying the Glorantha material myself, so I didn't have the books to check the details from.

First, Greg _is_ mentioned in the book. No idea where that rumour started, but they obviously don't have the book.

As for Steve, he has an open invitation to discuss the matter with us, but has never raised it himself. It is probably best if third parties did not do their best to create bad blood.
