Consistancy in 2e?

I was wondering if the consistancy in the qualities of weapons would be better in 2e? For instance the MEDIUM laser on the olympus corvette varient is better then the HEAVY laser on the hyperion. And I'd like to see the pulse cannons become more standardised. So , for instance, all heavy pulse cannons would be double damage. They might not all be twinlinked but they'd all be DD. Rather then some being DD,while others just get a couple more dice and more range. I'd prefer to see a heave pulse cannon be a heavy pulse cannon across the board, at least within each fleet. between fleets weapons could vary, so what the EA calls a heavy pulse cannon might be a medium one for someone else. And I'm just using the pulse cannon as an example, I just get tired of one weapon being different from the same weapon on another ship in the same fleet.

in principle I agree, but its probably to late to address something like this if it hasn't already been addressed.

just waiting for August...

whilst it would be nice, you only have to look at the modern military and see their own lack of consistency in naming conventions. It is a tad annoying when weapons from the same fleet, with the same name, are different, all it needs is a tweak, but it's a lot less important than balancing the ships out in the first place!

the rules definately should be out for august I think. dunno about fleet lists but dont see why not.
armageddon was delayed down to the printers as well but now they have their own printing facilities it should be ok I think.

Would be nice to do as a final run through in the ship descriptions...just make sure no two weapons have the same name but different values. Just add or subtract an adjective, its a finish piece, true...but finish is the difference between economy and luxury.

If I'm paying for a hardcover, I want it to be luxury grade, otherwise be true to your choice and go truly economy style and go soft cover. Of course I am being greedy I suppose...but hey...

Upcoming releases has it down for the 20th of Aug 2007.

I love the idea that if you buy the hard cover you get the luxury rule set with all the mistakes corrected and that stats properly adjusted.... whilst there is a softback version that doesn't

Definitely maybe?

Check the Upcoming releases...... it has a date of 20th of August, so that sounds fairly certain. However that could be the date it becomes available to the distributors, so it might take a couple of weeks to then get to us.

Burger I think that our Easy Jet flight home today, will definitely be on time and ready to go. Even though I am not a pilot, or flight scheduler

but do you know the pilot or flight scheduler? I know the rulebook went in for editing and layout a few weeks back as i game with Nick which is why I am more sure about the rules being out than the fleet lists.

have the campaign rules been changed at all? they were a bit sucky as was, and definately one of the weaker aspects to the game

Actually I like the campaign rules, yes they could do with a bit of tweaking here and there, and maybe a bit of fine tunning, but I think they are fundamentaly sound. The only thing I would really want changing is to have some mechanism to allow the attacker to occasionaly choose the scenario when engaging strategic targets, attacking anything with a space station can be incredibly frustrating at times.

For me the blockade scenario needs modifiying. It has to be the one scenario that can't be won by the blockader if the runner has fast ships. Either change it or get a new scenario.

Yeah, locally we had to change the blockade run scenario to make it worth even having in the game. The ISA were unbeatable in it (and a few others). We found a few things that needed to change because folks just wouldn't play certain scenarios.

(not to say it can't be fun...a war level blockade vs an EA player who had nothing above speed 8 was fun for me...not so fun for him...bagged my first Shadow Omega there.)

We changed the blockade to be maintainable from turn to turn without using up your attack. This way it acted like a real blockade, until you destroyed the blockading force you had to keep ships tied up running supplies in.

We changed recon run, you no longer caputred the location. It was too easy to do...but it gave you a chance to Ambush the following turn as a free attack. Only a 2 in 6 I think...but it did give you a chance to play a scenario no one would allow otherwise.

Ambush, as stated above, was dropped as it was simply an 'I win' for too many races.

I know the time the flight was booked for, I know the time it says on the ticket, I know the time it says on the monitors in the departure lounge. But I could never guarantee that it won't be delayed by adverse weather, a drunk passenger causing a scene, the pilot falling over and breaking his ankle... etc. Anyone who claims they can make such guarantees, is quite obviously living in a dream world.

Do you know the CEO, Line manager, Floor manager, Despatch Controller of the printing company, and Delivering drivers of the courier. No, I did not think so. You cannot make claims to things, that are way beyond your control.
