How the Burst beam functions has been difficult to find out (since it's not in the weapon description information, for some strange reason), but I recently did and thought I would post where I found information about it. I found the info about where I could read about it in one of the ship's descriptions... It would have been easier if it was mentioned under Weapon technology, with a bold header.
Anyway, on page 136 (Narn book) in the description for Improved Energy Mine (they also call it Heavy Energy Mine) you can find the info about what it does.
Hopefully someone has use for this little bit of info.
