BF:E on TMP

Mongoose
Mongoose sent some BF:E miniatures to the www.theminiaturespage.com to drum up a bit of interest for the game.
Unfortunatly they sent the MEA for some reason, so it might have backfired just a lil' bit...

It's a collection of the same old arguments really. It also seems a fair few of the posters there are anti-prepaint on principle, so an icy reception is to be expected.

Nothing to get too upset about as these people were unlikely to buy into it in the first place. Hopefully they'll PLAY the game at some point and realise it's not all about the mini's and the orgional marketing issues. If not it's their lost.

oh deary deary me. Mongoose for the love of god please stop with the awful pictures! Theyre really putting people off the game which is a real shame. And if they wanted to sell the product why did they send what are clearly a bad batch of the worst of the wave 1 figs :(

Sorry if Im sounding snippy, but its just annoying as I personally really LIKE BFEvo and want to see more people get into it, not just look at the minis and go 'urgh'

also il add if you look your see every body who has some likes them, and those who havnt evan attempted to try them are complaining and refering to a comment made last year and saying mongoose are insisting they are better painted than 90% blar blar, when mongoose has actualy retracted that comment so the frothers arnt evan realy in any knowledge of what they are talking about.

plus people are 8 times more likly to moan than praise

Especially online!!! The amount of dealings i've had where as soon as you meet them in person they completely change! People like to complain facelessly i think.

Um.... Evil dude, if people dont like them, they wont buy them, so obviously the people who have them like them :)
And Mongoose still say that the models are painted to an EXPERT level on the main page, so they really do have to bare that particular cross...

Also, you clearly don't spend any time on the site if you think that its mostly Frothers on the TMP :D Some might post there but there's practically drive bys and flame wars every couple of weeks between the two sites

From what I can honestly tell Mongoose chose the worst set of models to send out as a preview to the site. I don't thnk the others are much better sculpt wise, but the paint jobs on the early MEA figs is all over the place.
Still I do agree that some of the people on there weren't ever really going to be interested (But it is worth pointing out that the TMP does have a toy gaming section so there are people on there who are into prepaints), but from what I saw the only positive comments were from people off this forum..

I've been updating the BF:EVO page at BoardGameGeek with some of my pictures.

I recommend posting pics of your own minis and post comments to the contrary of the naysayers. But in all honesty you can't blame the posters for many of the comments based on the lousy pics provided by the TMP folks. The MEA are the worst representatives of the game thus far and these help prove it. No offense MP, just being honest.

It was bad pics that killed the game in Cincinnati. When the gang at the local shop saw those ugly pics from the 1st wave, they cancelled all their pre-orders and thus the game died before it even hit the shelves.

Seems I'm the only player, and I can't even get the minis in my area.

Same here. The game had some buy outs, but that's due to lack of stock in the local stores here. Otherwise you'll be lucky to find players in my area.

Elvis in Combat is the only other guy I know who has anything for BF:Ev in N. Va.

Hiromoon,

There are about 3 others that are regulars at E&E that bought BF:E stuff. Only problem is there wasn't enough to go around.

So right now everyone is borrowing from the demo kit when we play.

Well, everyone but me since I picked up the PLA, which wasn't selling really. All the other factions were snapped up quickly. MEA first, I might add.

Being right outside an army base, image how many boxes of "US Army" infantry would sell!

There might be a restock of MEA at Eagle and Empire today! 8)

Same here. MEA were gone in the first 1-2 sales. The USMC disappeared in a hurry and now there are only a couple boxes of EFTF and PLA floating around. There is just enough left for a starter army or two per faction. I think the IFV and Command units in wave 2 will bring those two factions back in line with the others.

No one around here has bought any, myself included. I'm one of those "games for escapism" people, which means I'm not too interested in moderns; I was going to hold out for SST:Evo. But the system is growing on me, as I read it, so I may give it a try. I can always revive them as scrawny LAMI when SST:Evo comes out, I suppose...

I went and read those pages and threads more closely, but I wonder...

Who took those crappy pictures?
TMP?

The MEA Wave 1 stuff was the worst choice possible, they have some issues but they don't look that bad on the gaming table or in a closeup picture correctly taken...

Probably TMP. But they do know how to take miniatures pictures; they've been doing it for a while. They also know what people are concerned about with this set, which is painting quality; taking pictures which accentuate that makes sense.

I post on TMP and i admit i have been a bit harsh about BF:Evo. I was into SST in a big way untill they dropped it like a hot potato in favor of BF:Evo and the pre paints. And all the problems about the quality of the paint jobs etc did not help. I was thinking about buying this game untill that happend and i belive that is a common story. The figs that i have seen (may have been wave 1) still put me off and i won't buy untill they improve or live up to the hype(which won't happen). But i'm still waiting for SST and i WILL buy them unless thay are as bad as the BF:Evo stuff was. And the fact that every one is selling off SST cheap including MGP isn't a good omen.

reason their selling it cheap is that very very soon SST-evo is launched and on that shelf will be a kit and a box of the same mini prebuilt and painted for possably the same price, shops and mongoose would rather shift these units than lett them gather dust, dont complain take advantage.

What where the figs you've seen?

I have to say that the Challenger II is putting me a bit off, btw...
