The game went fine, was a pretty funny game too.
About the rule thing, started a boarding party around turn 3 or 4 and dave told me when i tried firing at that ship that i couldn't fire cos i had troops on board. Which obviously turned out to be false as the others pointed out.
That would have changed the game a lot as i might have captured that gunship (which had 4 crew left at the end) and i might have saved my other lakara.
And btw I noticed the urik only have 32 crew in the s&p about the pakmara not 42 as on vassal and burger's shipviewer, dunno if that changed.
Good Catch Romu.....I hadn't noticed that either. I have been reporting errors in ships as I noticed them, but I did not notice that one. There was an issue with the Warbird that I found, that I know has been corrected.
In going back through the rules, errata, FAQ, and rulemasters CZuchlag did notice one thing about firing on a boarded ship. If the crew is killed out by fire, you do not get the bonus VP due to capture.
Another thing I don't particularly like about the boarding rules is you can't counterboard(thus sending over your own boarding parties) a ship unless it is at speed zero. Thus if you have a no special actions critical on the ship, you can never send over boarding parties to assist in retaking the ship unless your fleet happens to have breaching pods. This makes the inherent lack of troops on the Pak ships a huge disadvantage, especially in 2nd Edition where you can lose troops to critial effects.
With the new critical chart in 2nd edition, ships like the Ikorta, which has precise weapons and lots of troops, are going to be brutally effective in eliminating a lot of big warships. Especially since ships don't need to be speed 0 in second edition in order to be boarded. They only need to fit the following: Either be speed 0, Running Adrift, or have moved less than 1/2 their movement.
BTW, If I was a marine participating in a boarding action on an enemy vessel and the captian of one the ships in my fleet started to fire on the vessel I was on, I might want to shoot that captian in the head if I lived.
Just another question relating to 2nd Ed. If the target ship takes a Troops Critical in which you have your own troops on, Do your troops die too?
