How come I have only 2 games? Could swear I won against Lar, got beaten by Drakh's and got beaten by Pak'Ma'Ras...

Hmmm...And then there's that LONAW game where my omega sliced up big Brakiri ship almost in one go.

From whom you are missing those results? Me or opponent?

Good game with my Centauri against Davesaint and his pak'ma'ra yesterday, with it being 25-7 to him (15-5 in Tournament Points).

It was A Call to Arms with a decent amount of terrain. He deployed in a dust cloud and I tried to flank him round a small asteroid field. He took out one maximus before I could get round but this was an acceptable loss. However, a lucky 6-6 crit took out another Maximus and I couldn't finish off a couple of the Warbirds I shot at. Now rounding the cloud (forcing him out of it mostly as he turned to face) I kept the Urik Hals at arm's length, sacrificing shots for safety. Davesaint simply tried to keep as many torpedoes as possible firing as these were the weapons most likely to do the big damage.

The battle entered the critical phase with three Maximuses chasing down the Vaarl to prevent Scout bonuses and the Magnuses tried to take on three Warbirds almost in a head-to-head confrontation. The Vaarl survived (just but this was enogh), the Magnuses failed to do significant damage and the Warbirds only did minor damage back (neither of us were particularly special at rolling attack dice all game). The clincher for the game though was another fluke 6-6 crit on a Maximus from the port guns of the Urik Hal (before the Maximus could fire on the Vaarl).

From here all I could do was hide, chasing down the Vaarl and inflicting maximum damage. One Corvan took an immobilised crit and the Magnus took a Torpedo volley from the other Urik Hal, causing three hits, and a bad crew crit killing it outright.

It was actually a really close game with my inability to roll anything other than X-1 crits (yep, all six of them) and taking four 6-X crits being the decisive factor. Little things like failing all 11 Come About rolls and having silly numbers of shots stopped by Redundancy didn't help but these weren't really game-changing. Davesaint played a really solid game and didn't make any mistakes allowing me to come back and I can't fault his play at all. A good game and a tough opponent.

It was a great game Triggy. I was pretty mentally exhausted after it. I think it's the first call to arms scenario in a very, very long time that I have played that went 10 turns. You played it quite well, and I made a ridicluous number of come abouts with my Pak ships, 4 or 5 I think. I also agree on the criticals and redundency. They really swayed the balance.

How come everybody says that when they play me? :p

It was really good fun and Davesaint is a tough opponent too (it wouldn't have gone on so long if we weren't both coming up with tactical masterplan after tactical masterplan)

My game against JayRaider the other night was a good one, although a little one-sided.

He took his mixed Early Years EA and I took my "Maximus stack" Centauri. He formed up with the Artemises rushing me, the Sagittariuses hanging back and the rest somewhere inbetween. I rushed my Maximuses down the flank and held the Magnuses back (behind a dust cloud at first) in the centre. One Maximus was taken down by missile and beam fire quite early but a hammer blow fell when the Magnuses presented the option to the Hyperion of coming into their Matter Cannon range and lining up its boresight or All Stopping and staying out of range but being unable to fire for the turn. Jay chose to line up the shot but got blown up before able to return fire!

The Maximuses went on an Oracle and Sagittarius hunt whilst the Artemises and Nova shot past me, each side inflicting moderate damage but no big crits or killer blow. However, as I had more manoeuvrability I managed to take out the Sagittariuses quickly enough and swing around to face the reoriented rest of the fleet. When the Nova was Jay's last ship and lost its guns, Jay called it a day.

VPs: 51-8 (not counting holding ground points)
TPs: 20-0

The scores may look a little harsh but it's just the way it spiralled away from him after the loss of the Hyperion (a key point in the game). Neither of us got big crits but it did seem as though his dice were taunting him a bit (e.g. he fires one shot hoping for a lucky crit to get back into the game, gets through Interceptors, gets the crit, gets a vital hit, then only rolls a 1!) A fun game and a great opponent :)

Well looks like it's down to just three of us fighting for the other qualification slot in Group A and given I'm playing both CZuchlag and tneva in the near future, it could be interesting :)

Ok humbaba and I just finished our tourney game, it ended on a 46 - 25 for me so 15-5 in tourney points.

It was a very close game, if those minbary boarding parties didn't push on the self destruct by mistake on that bimith it would have been a very close call. And the legendary abbai sensors and armor paint didn't help either.

It was a nice game against a very nice opponent. Looking forward for a rematch :)

Well I just had an excellent game against Romu and his Abbai. It was a close run thing with early dice going in my favor, but then swinging against me. I would like to say that the dice beat me, but in truth I made a grave tactical error that ultimately lost me the game. When both of Romu’s Bimuths took no movement criticals I greedily went in for boarding actions. One of them repaired the critical before I could board it and the other was boarded and eventually detonated by suicidal Minbari Wind-Swords (how many boarding action criticals???) All in all it was a very fun and tense game against an excellent opponent who kept on me like glue. I would like to give a tip of the hat to Romu – a player who clearly knows his business (I guess I am assuming the “he” part) and I am looking forward to the rematch.

The final score was 45 to 26 for a 15 to 5 result in Romu’s favor.

Each of us has a final match with Operative6678, which will decide the fate of group two.

Humbaba

For anyone interested, operative6678 and I will play our tourney match this afternoon at 15:00 bst.

It should be an interesting match for the group 2 as everything is still possible. Itkovian is already qualified but everyone else might still grab the second place :)

So the last two matches should be entertaining at least

I'd like to take the opportunity to thank everyone involved in the tournament as it was a great learning experience for me, and a lot of fun !

Special thanks to Katadder (and triggy ?) for organizing it. I sure hope it'll happen again.
