Beyond A Call to Arms

Mongoose
Hello,

I'm not very active or up to date with the forum, but I seem to remember reading or hearing that after the B5 license ended, A Call to Arms would remain, just as a generic space combat game. Maybe I just drank too much awhile ago and made that up, but I was wondering if that was true. Also, will there be a miniature line for that game?

A bit off topic, but not quite worth making a second post, I'm still looking to fill out my Centauri, Narn, and Minbari Fleets. Honestly, I'm interested in anything, but those three are my top priority. I'm the US, and am looking for fair prices, so if you've got anything just shoot me a pm or message me in this thread.

I've got some EA I could trade away, as well as some old 40k stuff if anyone is interested. I've got a few jewels from when I was big into it, but would gladly trade them for some more B5 goodness.

Thanks for reading. javascript:emoticon('8)')

It is not true. Well the first part is, the B5 license is ending.

But ACTA will not become a generic space game, it will continue under a different license which is yet to be revealed!

Well, I guess that is essentially what I meant, I just worded it differently than I meant it.

Will this yet to be revealed game include miniatures? Or is that not the focus this time around?

Hmm. Thats interesting.
Wonder if the new license will be as recognizable as B5.
Personally I think Star Trek would be very fitting for the ACTA rules. Even complete with different eras and lots of races.

Sounds fun - to be honest I am farily sure that a B5 adaption will follow quite quickly if there is a 3rd Edition

Or people could continue to use 2nd Ed..

But i cant wait im expecting something not very mainstream... something strange, cant wait.

My hopes for Mass Effect were somewhat lifted when I spotted a poster on Mongoose's message board this weekend :)

Alas, since I am only interested in B5, I will be playing with the 2E ruleset until and unless the new version provides a mechanism for converting my fleets to the new edition. The only other storyline I'd even be remotely interested in would be Star Trek and I seriously doubt that is the one Mongoose is pursuing.

Cheers, Gary

IMO several different B5 conversion will show up as soon as the new system is out.

Converting ACTA over to Star Trek is another matter, as IMO the firing arcs in ACTA does not work well enough for Star Trek. Starmada is much better for this.

For those of us who were there at rthe weekend, the contents of one of Mongoose miniatures cabinets was a big give away.

Are you sworn to an NDA?

Any chance of you telling us or giving us a hint?

Part of me hopes for either Battlestar or, as others have put it, Star Trek (but considering that there are already star trek mini games out there I do doubt this...)

I would say link up with the re printing of Fading Suns. Have ACTA: Fading Suns.

It has 6 House Fleets (Hawkwood, Al-Malik, Decados, Li-Halan, Hazat and Imperial), Merchant League Fleet, Church Fleet, Vuldrok Barbarian Fleet, Calphiate Barbarian Fleet, Vau Fleet and Symbiots.

That is 12 fleets which does not include Ur-Obon, Ur-Ukar fleets.

Ship designs are out there as they did do Noble Amarada space combat game.

If it is Trek then I'm gonna play Borg, I can easily make cubes out of cardboard and spheres out of ping-pong balls

no no no no I'm sick of Star trek, so many better shows, books, game settings have been and been axed, and startrek with it's terrible storylines and weak background goes on, aaarrrgggghhhhhhhhhhhhhh

For people wanting to know what we all saw at Office Mongoose. Well, they had to turn up at the weekend and see with their own eyes. (A little bonus for still supporting the game until the end).

Other wise no spoilers from us :D.

Well, if it was battlestar, you could have fleets themed on all the 12 colonies, as well as the Cylons. I doubt it is beyond the 12 colonies to fight amongst themselves (if anyone has seen the pilot ep for Caprica, then there is obvious issues between them to cause in fighting).

Then there is the possibility of a Stargate themed game, or even a proper Star Wars starship miniatures game.

Sod it, lets go wild with the speculation. What about Wing Commander? Space above and Beyond? Firefly?

Are we going to find out soon or is the announcement still a good few months away?
