Personal News, Not Really Important

Emperor Mongoose
So, as many of you know I'm not on Facebook or Instagram. But I got some personal news that gives a bit of the happy and I wanted to share it.
You all know I'm a Civil War reenactor. Some of you may remember that I am an officer, the commander, of a company of infantry in my reenactment association.
This last weekend my men voted to promote me from First Lieutenant to Captain.
Now, I've put 20 years into this particular company, from private to sergeant to first sergeant. When we all got together after the COVID quarantine, there were few of us left. Many of the older folks 'aged out' in 2015 after the 150th Appomattox and COVID had the effect on everyone's social lives. So it's been a real fight to recruit interested people and keep this hobby and my company alive. And I should note that ALL volunteer organizations from little theaters to Habitat for Humanity have this problem.
I feel like this promotion sort of validates all the work and the love of history. I'm humbled, thankful, and surprised beyond measure.
So, to use the war-cry of my regiment,
"REGULARS, BY GOD!"

Respectfully submitted,
- CR Hicks Jr.
- Captain, Co. C 4th US Infantry
- Commanding

Congrats!

Congratulations, your comrades obviously value your commitment and dedication.

Are those vintage rank emblems or reproduction?

Regardless, I salute you, sir.

edit.

It is important news, it is refreshing to have something as positive to comment on :)

My thanks to all.
I can only say that I have good people behind me and a wonderful mate beside me. I make sure to take careful care of all of them.

And, Sig, the insignia are in-period vintage, part of an auction I was out-bid on. My reproduction insignia are very similar, gold embroidered rectangle frame, two gold embroidered bars of my rank front and back, over an infantry branch cornflower blue backing.
