basing 1/2400 aircraft and the CV Aquila

I finally decided to paint and place those very tiny little aircraft on the CV Aquila (1/2400 GHQ). I have seven (lost one some time ago) monoplanes, representing the Re.2001, and a bunch of float-biplanes which are probably the spare floatplanes from the other Italian ships I have. (They've been sitting in the closet among other not-put-together figures for quite awhile.) So far I glued 3 monoplanes ("fighters", two are on the catapults waiting to take off) and 6 biplanes ("bombers") onto the CV and have 4 and 6, respectively, remaining available.

But, I was thinking of basing these extra on individual bases for separate activities. I figure to put them in a pair per base, being more representative then actual flights or squadron numbers of aircraft (besides not having that many figures). Will this work? How does VaS (1.0) handle aircraft? (I've not played the game) How will VaS 2.0 do so? (hint? ) Or is it all abstract and aircraft units in the playing area are not needed?

Any suggestions on basing the planes? I put all ships on a magentic strip so they hold their place in the metal tool box I use to carry them. I'll do the same for the aircraft flights.

A flight of two is fine. You could do singletons, but I think two is more stylish. They'd need to be on something small, I think the aircraft counters in VaS are 1" x 1" (?).

addendum - interesting info, msprange. This will be required, or simply how the aircraft alotment is calculated?

A flight is four aircraft (as far as fighters and fighter-bombers are concerned) and, more to the point, it is how we will do the models :)

Thanks. Four to a base will do, I happen to have two 20mm x 20mm bases sitting here. I'll glue the other two biplanes onto the carrier (and give it that "the deck is full of planes re-arming!" dread  ).
