Balvarin Stats?

Are the Centauri Balvarin stats still the same as appearing in SFOS?
Or have i missed something?

The Combat sim and Vassal ACTA, need to be updated.
I knew something was wrong when i saw the Vassal ACTA Balvarin stats.

Balvarin stats on Vassal are fine - it only has jump point as a trait. you may be getting confused with Balvarix.

In my SFOS Balvarin has special rules: Carrier 2,Command 1,Fleet Carrier, Interceptors2 and Jump point.!

Mine just had the Jump Point. Those you quoted look like those from the Balvarix.

You managed to get an extra special set of misprints in your SFoS?

I know the Balvarin was a decent carrier pre-SFoS, but I don't know what was in the Revised Box.

that stats you listed are for the balvarix, if the balvarin was like that it would be a hell of alot more used ship.

Strange that you are seeing a Balvarin with a Carrier trait. If you look at the SFoS Erratta (http://www.mongoosepublishing.com/pdf/ctasfosfaq.pdf) It specifically addresses the Balvarin's stats.

The Balvarin entry is correct – it does not have the Carrier or Fleet Carrier traits as, when it was launched, the Centauri had little desire or ability for fighter carriers. The Balvarix is a variation that corrected these flaws (albeit at a higher cost).

are you sure this is the Balvarin in SFOS?
When did you buy SFOS? Is it possible they did a 2nd run and corrected it?

Check for what fighters are listed for the colony station

I have the PDF version of the Revised box and SFoS as well. I do not recall seeing a stat block for the Balvarix, but I do know that the Balvarin was incorrect. It stated that it had carrier and many other traits, but Burger's ship viewer had only Jump Point. Given the PL of the ship, I was inclined to believe Burger.

The FAQ was incredably confusing, since it stated that the SFoS entry was correct, but what the entry said did not match the FAQ.

This misprint led to a very ticked off Centauri player who has yet to play again. I tried to point out that the Balvarin would be insane as statted in the misprint, but that point seemed to be lost at the time.

The whole situation was a bit confusing to say the least. I am glad to see this thread so that I know the shipviewers were right.

If you have ACTA revised edition, then your fleet list will tell you that the Balvarin has all of the special rules now attributed to the Balvarix, but it definetly sounds like someone has a misprint of SFoS. The balvarin stats in the fleet list of the revised edition are not a misprint; but bear in mind that while the RULES from SFoS have been put into the revised edition, the FLEET LISTS from SFoS are not in the revised edition. Coz if they were; then no one would ever need to buy SFoS, after having bought the revised edition!lol

Except for the boarding rules, planetary assaults, space stations, Sheridan, G'sten, new ships, extra variants, new scenarios and expanded campaign rules.
