Babylon 5: Evolution or War Without End?

If Mongoose did a Babylon 5 ground combat game should it be...

  • War Without End 10mm "epic" combat with infantry on squad bases

  • Battlefield Evolution 28mm combat with individual models

Well, I voted 10mm, since I prefer company to battalion sized battles. As far as I can tell, the market prefers 28mm though, and lots of people would go nuts for SST:B5 crossovers. Not to mention you could use the minis for the RPG, which is the reason Mongoose went with huge B5W scale minis for their Fleet Action scale game.

i wouldnt mind either, but it would be great if you could use them for planetary assults or boardings in ACTA, would add o much more than just roling dice and destroying things written on paper in the planets case.

Evo all the way! I prefer small unit skirmishes and quick games due to my work and life schedule. Besides, when I really want to refight epic battles, I'll dig out an old AH Bookcase game and go to town with counters on hex-boards.

Now, if they did the other pre-painted... nah, I'd probably still vote Evo.

I finally plumped for BF:Evo scale

You just couldn't get the detail right between the Centauri soldiers and Royal Guard in 10mm

Think how cool pre-paints of these guys in 28mm will look!

Ok I voted for 10mm as I want to incorporate it into a ACTA campaign. Though the 28mm Evo figs would be perfect for RPG as well as providing some nice skirmishes and just imagine... Boarding actions

AAAARRGGGHHH!!!!!!! what a choice.

BF:Evo would rock......they could even do a game like gangs of mega city 1, I would love to put a few vorlons up against a large gang of narn!

Not so Mark, we see two Vorlons together in "In The Beginning" in Dukhat's place.

And also when Valen presents Babylon 4 to the Minbari.

One vorlon is a gang. Two Vorlons are an army. :)

Yeah, I know we see two Vorlons side by side (always the same two suits - either Vorlons lack self expression through the medium of encounter suits, or there are only two Vorlons).

Actually I was thinking in terms of game balance in 'Gangs of Babylon 5' terms.

Cheers
Mark

Reminds me of the joke of an army invading Scotland:

"It's a trap, there's 2 of them!"

speaking of jokes about invading Scotland, there were some great ones in the Scotland V England comedy debate during Euro 96. Dermot morgan (Father Ted) was ref, Nick Hancock captained England, not sure who was for Scotland?

Scots say "English are wimps, their soldiers all look like this"

Nick Hancock replies "Yeah but just think you Scots were conquered by an army of this guy then!"

another Nick Hancock wisecrack "and the Scots armies were kept out by a wall this high!"
