Babylon 5: Evolution or War Without End?

If Mongoose did a Babylon 5 ground combat game should it be...

I was thinking about this yesterday and I really don't know which would be cooler!?

If Mongoose did a B5 ground combat game would it be better to go with the GROPOS style "War Without End" which was planned (think Epic, Flames of War or Dirtside II if you don't know what that means). Obviously using the old AOG models (6mm or 10mm?)

Or would it be better to fight smaller company level actions using Battlefield:Evolution and 28mm Babylon 5 figures and tanks?

I actually don't know which i'd prefer! What do you think?

Bigger the battle the better

6mm all the way!

Please no 10mm! I hate to paint those buggers! Don't ask why but I find 10mm to be THE hardest scale to paint from the 3 I have tried(6mm, 10mm, 28mm). 6mm OTOH is plain easy(good thing too concidering I just ordered over 500 modern 6mm and 110 vechiles...30 T-72! The poor 10 Challenger II's feel like seriously outnumbered )

But yeah. Small models, big battles. They look and feel soooo much better than tiny skirmishes. For those we have RPG

I like big minis, and mongose have produced ones I like already, and want to see more. 28mm shadows people, that would rock!

I think both would rock. That is, WWE an old school make and paint, and a prepaint evolution game.

I think GROPOS was 10mm though, so 6mm probably wouldn't happen.

They could sculpt new range.

6mm=bigger battles possible=bigger sales for Mongoose

They could but with 10mm versions already available I doubt they would. Epic is 6mm too, so they might want to stay away from that scale and I know many people who say 6mm is too hard to paint.
I find 6mm easier to paint because it is smaller but there you go!

Epic is hardly only 6mm game though...It's like saying "let's stay out of 10mm. Pendraken does it as well!"

Have they tried it or is it just first impression looking at the models? Because I find 10mm be LOT more harder to paint...

Then again thing with 6mm's is not to be perfectionist :-) Don't try to paint every single figure to the perfection. Figure out not too complicated colour scheme and you'll do armies the size of this in no time:

That army didn't take that long to paint.

.

I just can't see Mongoose abandoning a line of 10mm models they inherited in favour of the cost of a new 6mm line which may or may not succeed.
If BF:Evo takes off (and SST:Evo) I could see them maybe doing 28mm Friggas, Warrior Caste etc

Dunno, that's just the reaction I always got to Epic

WOW! that's a lot of Orks!

If that's the reaction you get for epic(6mm is hard to paint) then it sounds more of a them looking at the models and thinking "how can you paint that small models?". Not that I blame them! I was bit scared of it myself at begining but I found out that it's suprisingly easy once you try it

WOW! that's a lot of Orks!

And that's only after "wave 1" of orks so to speak. I have added some more  (albeit mostly on specialist stuff).

Nevermind my IG army or chapters worth of space marine infantry  .

That's the reason I love 6mm armies. You can get really BIG armies and it doesn't drive you bankrupt or require 100'x60' board  Board space is real killer in wargaming. 6'x4' gets real crowded REAL fast with 28mm models...Heck even for 6mm it gets tad too fast(maybe I should switch to 2mm models...Or limit my grandiose battle plans a bit...)

ok i voted 10mm

but u think they should use the evolution game system if that makes sence., jut treat a stand of men as a man, ie after all its just a stat line.

Nah. Epic scale(so to speak) isn't just about invidual units like BF:Evo is but also contains other issues unique to LARGE scale combats. Specifically command&control for example and effect of this on battles would be HUGE!!!

Evolution recreates skirmish level operations nicely but for example plonk down armoured regiment of tanks(48 challenger II I think) and you will be missing out element of C&C that should be there for such scale actions if you use evolution ruleset.

Right ruleset for right scale :D

That was a tough choice, but I went with War without end. IMHO Gropos was one of the best systems ever created. While I know they will change it I would like to be able to get new minis for it.

Very difficult choice, after much thought i voted for War Without End using 10mm, AOG's Gropos.
It would fit perfectly with ACTA.

I'd also love to see Evo B5, for skirmish battles.
I'm ready to spend lots of money if either appears :D
