Armoured Half track being hit ...

Hi
How do you guys handle halftracks like the 251 being hit (by HE or AT) but not destroyed for the guys inside ... do they take a hit in cover for being in the lethal zone, are they suppressed as they in theory are in the fire zone of a blast or do you just ignore it. Also if the vehicle is destroyed we read it as everyone inside is without having to roll ... is this right?

Also can't find anywhere that stipulates if anything can't get through the Target 6 side armour of the half tracks - in theory lucky hits rifles will damage the vehicle - now I know this is true (the armour was thin and you could argue it hit the tyre/ vision slot etc etc) so no worries about it, just wondered if that was the intention or if we had missed something. I am loving the way the 251 can't be used as an invulnerable assault ship that it is in some rules!

Again on halftracks we are presuming if they are using the mounted mg then the firer figure can be targeted but counts as being in cover etc.

Thanks

With WAW (and MC) all passengers are killed if the vehicle they're in is destroyed but don't take damage if the vehicle takes hits otherwise (whether it's from direct or area effect weapons). Same goes for crew figures i.e. your 251's machinegunner can't be targeted separately, you have to fire at the vehicle. Effectively, the passengers become part of the vehicle when they embark.

You're right about Armour 6 on vehicles, infantry small arms and heavier MGs can penetrate this (if they get lucky  ).

Passengers and crew can't be suppressed by fire at their vehicle. There is a (house) rule that Pieta came up with for vehicle suppression(for MC, his lists and Sgt Scream's are on the Evocommand site). It uses vehicle size the same way as squad size for this rule and forces vehicles to "button up", preventing them from using exposed weapons.

100% Spot ON! 8)
@Rich: Page 40 of the WaW rulebook on Transport Vehicles may be interesting to re-read for you...

During design we had to decide if we want passengers to shoot out of vehicles and then also being able to be shot or not. We decided for the current more abstract rule.

Cool - was just basically checking for our pacific games when the LVCs get hit ... people were enquiring if people inside could be effected by he hits on the craft.

Then please ASK for the LVTs!
The rules for them are different, please re-check the "Amphibious" rule on page 122 ff of the Pacific War book!
