Comparing costs to, say, Battlefleet Gothic, ACTA does okay on the high end, but suffers against the plastics and the smaller ships.
BFG Battleships run $35, while B5 Armageddon's run from $20-$60. Though it must be said, the bigger B5 ships are really BIG.
BFG Cruisers run from $7.50 in plastic (Imperial and Chaos only) to $30 in metal.
B5 Cruisers (raid and Battle) tend to hover right between $12 and $20. I think the Psi Corp Mothership is one of the more expensive at $25.
BFG Escorts and Lights run from $3 to $10.
B5 Skirmish and Patrol vary wildly, from $5 to $18. Some seem to be because of the size (Saggitarius) while others are baffling (like why the Tethys costs less than half the similarly sized Shadowcloak).
Fighters are tough to compare, becasue the basing differs. IIRC though, BFG Fighters come 5 to a stand, and run about 50 cents each, making it $2.50 a stand.
B5 fighters are $3 a stand, including a really nice basing system.
The big B5 ACTA advantage? Box Sets. Those discounts range from $53 to $84 (maybe more) if I've done my math right.
BFG has no deal whatsoever, and GW only sells direct (so retailer get very little margin or reason to sell them)
Oh, and of course, B5 ACTA ruleset now beats out stuff like BFG, Fed Commander, and Full Thrust HANDS DOWN!
