40k Minis vs SST Minis?

Hey KISS aren't clowns, they're Knights In Satans Service! :D
(Which makes them even less cool than if their gimick had been clowns... man kiss would've rocked if there was custard pie throwing and juggling and junk...)

they're Knights In Satans Service
who say 'Ni!' on a regular basis.

It's a shame that the Bugs just aren't that great- I love how the Bugs 'are' (concept) but not how the models are designed.

I think the cougars are THE BEST powerarmoured humanoids in the market today.,
and i agree with the k.i.s.s too many minimakers make too much detail that often only serves to clutter up the mini if you're in the low to mid-range of painters, and not not taking profesional photos for Cmon..

Leave fiddly detail to Bosses and keep the rank and file neat and clean

note that i'm extremely unimpressed with infinity figs for anything other than a diorama.. ok.. some are nice anyway

I ain't so sure about that, every time I pick up my Cougars and look at them I think YEAH these are the best, then I put it down and pick up one of my Grizzlies and my opinion changes...

2 different suits but both extremely cool!!

First off, this post is not to criticise anyone elses opinions on sculpts, this is just to state my own unsolicited (2 cents worth) opinion.

I feel GW sculpts have too much, of a Baroque/Rococo/Gingerbread style. They represent a future in which humanity has been unable to recover their technological base after 10,000 years of recovery!!!!

Semi-Barbarian, Killer, Religious Psychotics (and that is the good guys).

If you like that style and love paying GW prices, absolutely feel free. It is your hobby money after all.

Most military equipment of a jump suit variety would have very little extraneous dangling junk hanging off it. It would be designed for immediate, easily reachability and repeat accessibility for all equipment. At least that is the way Heinlein seems to describe the suits in Starship Troopers.

Ultimately it comes down to personal choice.

Whatever each of you does, enjoy our wonderful hobby. :D :D :D :D

Well, powersuit wise I like the Grizzlies, but the Cougars look too clunky (IMO) for a 'lighter' suit.

Bugs wise, I think the Warrior is a good model. The guard bug is also great - but the stars of the mongoose mini line for me are definately the Overseer and the Rippler - both fantastic models. My overseer has to be one of my favourite models that I've built or painted (although it was technically quite difficult to assemble).

Since yall are talking about 40k do any of you know how tall a Tau fire warrior is compaired to a cap trooper and how tall is a Tyranid Lictor?

I couldn't find a comparison picture for a Tyranid Lictor, sorry . . . . . . .

Think both companies have hits and misses. Look at the recent Chaos Possessed models and the Skinnie Venerables for models that are misses. Both companies like any other company are able to produce relly nice or really bad models. The Skinnie Soldiers look amazing and if I ever did Skinnies these guys would if at all possable make up the bulk of my force.

The main thing to remember with Mongoose is that they are still quite new in the miniature world, and trying to find their strengths it would seem. I personally think they are trying to do too much at once and this has had an affect on their quality. Still I'm hopfull for this game.

How Wimpy are Terminators LMAO!

Just a shame it's not a currant Terminator, think the new ones are a lot bigger... I'd say at a guess as big as a Couger Exo-suit.

Thats where ur wrong Lol!

The current plastic Terminators are under 4cm Tall, whereas the Cougar is just OVER 4cm Tall.

Sorry to all the 40k fans out there, but the new plastic Termies are still wimps!

Erm...ok :?

Guess I was wrong.

Just for the record I'm not a 40K fan, I wouldn't call the new Terminators Wimps... but rather bow legged.

Yea Lol! Although I would have called them 'bandy'! He, He, He!

The new Plastic Termies aren't exactly great value for money either Lol! Not at £5 per PLASTIC Miniature, as opposed to the Cougars at £5 for per Metal Miniature, and a mere £6.66 for a Grizzly Exo-Suit (and they are HUGE)!

I mean GORRAM,those Grizzlies are BIG!

The Terminators are better sculpts, with better accessories than the Cougars or the Grizzlies.

That being said, I own and have painted, 9 Grizzlies, and 0 terminators. I like SST game better, and the Grizzlies are nice figures.

Maybe the sculpting is executed in a more professional way (although you can't say sculpted with the newer EE Plastic Models as they are CAD).

But I think the Cougars and Grizzlies are more evocative and fun!

Some would comment on the fact that the Terminator braves going to combat in a smaller, less tough suit of armour when considering who's the wimp.... :P

Plus as the average CAP trooper is taller than a Space Marine (and LAMI taller than an IG) there might be a slight scale difference...

However the Exosuits are pretty impressive (not to mention better value for money...).
