Bought "Tools for Frontier Living." I very much like it and like reading through it. Thank you, Colin, excellent. I also have most of the original GDW stuff on CD.
My question, what would serve as a Huey / Iroquois UH-1 in the 2300AD milieu? Is there a sourcebook out there (GURPS, whatever) that details TL9-11 planetary troop assault craft? Anything?
I'm going to send my PCs into Kafer territory, and I want to give them a "We Were Soldiers," "Black Hawk Down" sort of, erm, adventure. Yes, they will like it.
Now my rant: Most of the old GDW stuff, it probably goes without saying, is fairly unimaginative in terms of planetary vehicles. Weapons, I kinda love. Brutal, killing-obsessed humans pretty much cornered the market on death delivery instruments in the 20th Century and not much to add there. IMTU, I don't even support much beyond slug throwers. Vehicles? Needs some flesh.
I saw some trailers for a new Tom Cruise SF film coming out this summer, and—sure enough—he is pumping ordinary lead into ordinary heads. But there are also some pretty cool vehicles in that film. So I'd like a pretty cool vehicle guide a couple of decades (and lightyears) beyond the GDW AMC Pacer and Gremlin.
