xoth cultures

Yes the cultural background
Primitive
Barbarian
Civilised
Nomad.
Some of the races are obvious as the descriptions state they are a nomadic race.others not so obvious some dwell in cities but act barbaric for instance.

Those backgrounds are unchanged from the Legend core rules, which is why they're not repeated in the Xoth books. (by the look of it)

Unless I misunderstand what you're referring to of course.

There are two new cultural backgrounds in Song (and Citadel repeats those).

Maybe this refers to which background each culture has?

The xoth website has some backgrounds that are not core Legend, maybe this refers to those?

Yes you misunderstand. The backgrounds are the same. However not all are suitable for each race. Sgb does not make it clear which backgrounds(primitive, Barbarian, etc) are suitable for which race(Kuthan, Tharag Thulans, etc).

I believe that's because the original author of The Spider-Gods Bride, Morton Braten, never actually spelled that out when he created SGB for d20. Looking at the original, he did spell out the races when he did that, but when he made his change to Pathfinder he adopted the primitive, nomad, decadent, etc. backgrounds instead (see: World of Xoth: Cultural Archetypes). I believe it was his intention that if you could think of a reasonable reason for that race to have a desired background, he would be ok with it.

Mach5RR is correct. I was the final author on Spider God's Bride Legend and one thing I didn't touch was the cultures, that wasn't in my scope of work to do.

And if you look at what I did do for SGB's rewrite, you'll see it was a heck of a lot.

I realise that. And in no way did I mean to suggest that a half finished product was released . Apologies if I caused any offence. However the question is still valid. What is your opinion on where they fit?

No worries, I figured that you weren't saying it wasn't a half finished product. I was illustrating that basically I wasn't asked to look into the character generation side of SGB (1). Those particular documents never made it to my desk.

That sheet isn't complete because I missed out a couple of groups which were too out there for PCs, I think the demi-god giant guys and it's very general - especially compared to - (if you can get hold of a 2nd hand copy) Age of Treason which gives you a huge amount of detail and ideas for the professions in civilised cultures, which fit quite well into Xoth. AoT is the best thing to come out of Legend for sure.
