why are the figs so small?????????

Mongoose
i saw the pre figs. i stood there in amazement????? why are they so small?? theres no way those dudes would fit in with any other game . im not sure .....just my opion.

the figs are 1:65 scale

and are in praportion as well..

infact their the first true 28/27mm figs available in stores, every thing else is out scale so makes these look their out of scale when there not.

great news is the scale is great for modern warfare, check out my posts on "new look at scale" or building my city post.

i was also shocked when i got the scale tanks and cars right, but now im very enthusiastic.

hte sacel it cool in nad of itself. but alot of people who were anticipating this game, most who are not on this site, already had a fair amount of Modern figures they wanted to intigrate with mongooses stuff. I would LOVE modern chinese to fight my modern brits and americans, but they are too damned small. i can't even really use the vehicles. the vehicles alone if they had ended up 1/56th would have sold in phenomenal amounts beacsue there is not cheap source of British vehicles right now. if i want a modern land rover, or a modern Warrior in 1/56th, i can't get it. i can get them in 1/48th, but tehy both cost 20 pounds/50 CDN(land rover from HLBSC, Warrior from Imprint)!!!! i had high hopes for the figures/vehciles being in a remotely combatable scale, and now it's very much hte opposite.

Thier choice of scale is a huge let down, nad to me, it seems like they did it deliberately so they people would buy their models. not cool. i won't be buying any BF:evo stuff, even if tehy get the quality issues sorted.

dont be so negative, give it a chance.

your be amazed at how much 1:64 stuff is out their, infact in america they have modle shows that do 1:64 and 1:64 only !!!!

you may find your modern stuff isnt out of scale. as alot of modern wargames stuff is miss scaled so it sells ;)

GZG are 1:66 scale but sugest 1:56 vehicles, its a mussled up industry, and this si the first time figs and vehicles are of the same scale and described as such, to my knowledge.

I think you may find a few 20mm stuff to after the scale creep to be close to 25-26, these will look fine next to BFEvo.

But on why did they choose to do a scale game?

1. It looks better, you can look at a transport and say it would be a tight fit, but the army never went for good seats.

Take a Rhino is there a shrink ray on the door?

Why do you think so many compines say 28mm but the figs are 30, 32 even normal men who crest 33mm?

Most us 1/48 or even 1/35 vechicles to make them look right with the figs.

So if you do not use thier figs yours will look small, and most men get worried if thier fig is small.

2 Yes, Mongoose would like you to buy thier figs, they do not make alot of money posting the basic rules for free, (you would get fired for suggestting to place free rules for your next big game at many places)
and then charging only 25USD for the Advanced Book.

The figure sales are how Mini based compaines make money.

Now lets look these true 28s, these "small" as you call them figs, will allow a lot more moving and gaming. and yes 1/64 is a huge scale again used to be S in trains and died, but came back in diecast and more than a few kits.

For clutter I was able to get 10 1/64 cars for 10 USD, I got a 18 Wheeler, and 2 Panel vans for another 12.

So, in closing.

The rules play well, the vechicles and infantry look to be scaled together, yes tanks are really that small, and Mongoose has 3-6 lots dropping a month.

Give it a try, for 2 units of BFEvo will run less than 1 boss from other lines.

If your not going to give it a try, I think it is too late to get Mongoose to change scales.

Who knows perhaps this might get other compaines to look at thier lines and say, if we put them in scale "they woul look better"

Good Gaming
Hope you find what your looking for,
Lee

Foot to eye 28mm, without any over-emphasised heroic proportions.

They look so small because they are based on human beings, rather than cartoon characters. The smaller bases also add to the illusion that they're closer to 20mm. On the other hand, if they had been made the same way as other miniature games, the figures would now look too big for the tanks :)

(and as Mr Evil asked yesterday, I'll be posting some comparison shots of the figures next to those from other ranges over on BFEvo.com tomorrow!)

can you put them on mongoose as well or let me have permission to post thm here as its good for people new to the hobby and poping in to have a look.

The official reason for this scale of infantry?

A) We wanted the infantry to be in scale with the vehicles.

B) We wanted the vehicles to fit in the boxes :)

I'm happy for anyone to reuse as long as they cite the source website URL ;)

On a side note Evil, Hasslefree minis already makes true scale 28mm minis

there heroic proportions though, that or the future has every body with giant heads !!!! maybe our brains did evolve !!

Crucibal_Orc,

Try TAG for your 1/56th scale Warrior or Imprint Models for a 1/50th scale version. S&S Models do Landrovers they are 1/56th they even do the Landi Wolf with all the weapons .50 Cal, GPMG and LAW 80 as used in Afghanistan. Sloppy Jalopy will soon produce a metal 1/56th Landi so I understand. Chieftan Models do the Scimitar in 1/56th scale.

Hope this helps.

hte sacel it cool in nad of itself.

Eh... Is that gaelic? Anyhoot, The Assault Group makes a Warrior in 1/56th which is a touch bigger than the Mongoose one, and not quite asd expensive as the Imprint version (though the Imprint models have "gorgeous" written all over them, and they're in a very manly 1/50 scale). A land rover in similar scale should be available from S & S models.

Foot to eye 28mm

Eh? In 1/65th, hat makes them about six feet foot-to-eye, that's over 6'5" head-to-toe. People grow taller in the future, but I think that's a bit too much... This issue keeps popping up - wouldn't it be easiest if someone (Matt?) just took a picture of an upright BF:Evo miniature with a ruler next to it? Then we can settle this whole infantry-to-vehicles scale business once and for all.

EDIT: Gah! Martin beat me to it! Foiled again!

With apologies for my cruddy macro-level photography, icky colours, etc - I can't take photos to save my life, but at least you can see the scaling :)

So, opinions on the scale?
