What Have You Painted Today??

Thanks - that's most of my armour done now - got 2 more crusaders and a stack of Sherman III diesels to do, then I really have to start work on the infantry (oh so many men). And then once they're all done, I'll be thinking about some Paras...

Definately with the yellow, start up from brown as an intermediate on a black (or blue) primer, or try using a few layers of Citadel Foundation Yellow (Iyanden Sun I think the colour is called). They cover nicely over a basecoat...

Brown before yellow.. nice. A friend told me to use Tin Bitz before Gold. Same principle I guess.

that works well too.

Alexb83- is that Flames of war stuff? it's very well done.

Noobdelux- the colour scheme works well, i like it.

here's what i've finished this week-

It's a mix of flames of war and skytrex models, and I've recently added in some peter pig models for infantry (just boys rifles - for some reason neither FoW or Skytrex seem to make them). But we play with company level combat rules called Battlegroup: Panzergrenadier.
FoW strikes me as just being 40k in the second world war... bleh.

The following are FoW models: the 2 slightly larger matildas (they have the spades on the side of the hull)
The Crusaders.
The White Scout Car
The 25pdrs and crew.

The rest are Skytrex as posted atm (the infantry figures and the all metal matildas).

Yet to come: two infantry companies. 2 more Crusaders. 5 Sherman IIIs. 2 6pdr guns, 2 2pdr guns, 2 17pdr guns (for later war use - we limit our play to '42 at the moment).
And maybe when all that's done - a company or two of Paras.

I'm going to go and try that right now :)

Thanks Super Squirrel.

Have you tried the new GW foundation paints. I've heard some good things about them.

I've used the red right onto a black undrecoat and it went on very well.
Will try the yellow on my Centauri.

I've heard their good, but considering where I would need to go to buy some, and the price, I think I will stick with my Model Colours.

The price is comparable to any other paint available. Not counting Apple Barrel and those other hobby paints at Walmart and such places.

The skytrex models are excellent, though I wouldn't mix the tanks as I have done - they are slightly better in some detail, but are also marginally smaller in scale than the FoW models of the same type (if you put the matildas side by side they are noticeably smaller in all dimensions). They also lack some of the detail on the FoW tanks. Then there were flash issues on the radiator panels at the back of the matildas.
Infantry-wise though, they are excellent, and fantastic value. They also do a very broad range for every army.

Eh, I didn't do it today, but it took me a few weeks in September to paint him.
