What Have You Painted Today??

Very nice, indeed!

I thought they looked familiar. Is there a table top game for Homeworld?
Homeworld was modded to depict Babylon 5. It's only fair if B5:ACTA is modded to depict Homeworld. :)

Test scheme for my (hopefully) soon-to-arrive Federation ships. Detailing's a bit rough on this one so it'll need redoing, mostly just using this for testing out hull colour/shading and nacelle caps. Not a bad match for the hull I think, but the nacelles need to be a bit lighter.
Nice paint work, though the casting looks a bit rough. Painting the hull grey so the domes and illuminated panels can show up in bright white seems to work well.

Those look great! Can I inquire as to what techniques, paint, brushes, etc., you used? I'm quite a novice when it comes to paint so I'd love to know how to make my minis look this awesome.

Another couple of test schemes I'm trying out for use on the equivalent Starline 2500 models. Passes the time while I'm waiting for them to arrive :P

Can't decide between blue-grey and green-grey, so I've done one in each to see what you bunch think.

Both are sweet, but I prefer the blue-gray.

Those look great. I went with more of a blue - grey myself as this seems to be the more usual SFU colour scheme but nothing wrong with a bit of green. Also like your federation scheme. I'm really struggling to paint these, they're much less fun than the Klinks.

I havn't posted here in ages, mainly because I havn't painted a mongoose mini since my last B5 acta ship. But these guys are such a blast from the past that they are worth a post.

My gaming group got into dystopian wars last year, because we thought that the land side of the game would have the same feel to it that space marine (2nd ed) used to have. Unfortunatly, while the DW minies are amazing, the game is pants, and we all decided to break out our old space marine forces and just play that instead.

Last october I took some pics of the first game we had played in 16-17 years. My orks Vs the space marines.

http://boardgamegeek.com/thread/706184/first-game-in-years

It was a real blast getting the boyz out on the table after so long, and quite a few people wandering past had 'those were the days moments. Now we have about 10 people who are playing on and off, and have moved onto the netepic rule system. Netepic is basically fan based, modernised 2nd ed, and is a really good rule set.

I had a lot of space marine figures in storage from around the mid ninties, (so glad I didn't give into the urge to e-bay the lot) and my ork army has been joined by a ultra marine force, and I'm starting work on a chaos horde to keep them both on their toes.

Iain - those special order chits you have in the background look really good....are they available anywhere?

Hmmmm Epiiiiiiiic. Sorry distracted for a second there.

First time posting a pic, so lets see if I get it right.

Prior to picking up some of the new ACTA:SF stuff I figured I should probably try and get some more of ACTA:B5 fleets painted up, somehow I always manage to get onto a new project before finishing painting the last. Plowing through some Brakiri and Earth Alliance fighters at the moment, what do you think?

Vorlon Planet Killer - produced by AoG, supposedly Fleet Action scale. But even a proper FA scale Planet Killer would be about the size of a dinner plate; a B5 Wars / Mongoose scale one would occupy a significant area of the game table. I'm therefore defining a third scale, Scenery, because about the only thing on the average ACTA game table which is anywhere near the same scale as the Planet Killer is a small moon. :)

Drakh Heavy Raider - purely for display unless I can scratch-build a carrier and then get hold of another pack of Raiders.

Good to see your still painting em up AdrianH. Liking the blue, "light" effect on the killer, very nice. Bought one of those myself with the aim of making a bigger one at some point, not the size of a moon though, Have you added some spines to the mini, been a while I saw the one I bought.

Remember seeing a scratch build on here made from cd's, was thinking around plastic dinner plates myself but agreed would still be a tad small.

No, all the spines and fins were supplied in the kit. The pictures which I used for reference indicate that there should be a thin, straight spine sticking out forward at an angle from each wingtip and I considered adding those, but they would probably not survive transport. What I did add is the standard Mongoose style pivot head, allowing the model to sit on the usual stand. The wider base makes it more stable than the little AoG hexagon.

For some reason the photo of the Drakh Raider turned out darker. The brown and dark yellow are exactly the same as the colours on the Vorlon Planet Killer.

In my down time between essays, or just when all the words are finally blurring together, I've been continuing my efforts to get some completely painted fleets for ACTA:B5. Lately that's meant White Stars and plenty of them, which I think have one of the complicated paint schemes due to their semi-biological nature. So, what do you reckon?

Arch Lector Petrovski: some very nice paint jobs there! I definitely like the look of the jigsaw fighter bases, but I'd be afraid they'd get a little distracting on the table.

Those White Stars are pretty bright. Interesting color scheme choice. I think it works better on the gunships than the standard WS, but it looks pretty good either way.
