What do you think of the EA Apollo?

could do but in all honesty a Chronos is a far closer replacement for the Nova's role (you just rush into the middle of the enemy and open fire in every direction (it may LOOK fragile with only 20hp and 18 crew but its hull 6 with 3 interceptors. The things nigh on impervious to non beam weapons and takes alot more killing than you might think (and to sweeten the deal they come in lovely affordable boxes of 4 ;))

Chronos Frigates for president!!! (seriously not many people seem to actually use them much but I personally think they are the BEST ship in the entire EA list (certainly the best in the crusade list)

The Chronos is one of the worst ships there is int 3 isn't that good. 2 Olympus will usually take one out & 1 can almost do it. One crew critical and you are pretty much doomed. 18 crew is just rubbish. Can't escape no JP, no laser/pulse arrays.

chronos are great, all round firepower twin linked and then turreted rail guns. all wrapped up in hull 6 with interceptors. one of my favourite raid ships of the EA fleets.

Crusade, and frankly all era's need to remember how good the Hermes is. The two missles are great for nocking down the effectiveness of interceptors and teh flight of fighters a godsend. Great initiative sink, fast enough to get away, jump point so can play pop in behind if your afraid of losing it...great little ships and in Arm. you get huge numbers of them by splitting downward.

I just love it when my opponents bring a chronos, im thinking easy vp's. You can completely ignore for a 2-3 of turns as it can't really hurt you and dies in a round of firing at it. Thats all i ever seen them do. They can't even manuever to shield as they go pop.

katadder- I'd love to play your opponents. I've fought with and against chornii; and while I want to love them; they always die a horrible death the second the enemy looks at them.

20 hull and 18 crew is just to fragile; even closing blast doors results in a decrewed ship pretty fast.

18 damage is just to easy for most enemy to put on a ship; and apollo or marathon could do it easily in one turn.

well you could say the same about a marathon then :) 40 damage is too easy to put on a ship as thats basically 2 chronos worth of points. chronos generally run in supporting packs of 2-3.

True, but at least the marathon brings two fighters to the table, moves fast and has a triple damage beam.

While two chornii kick out a bit more firepower (ignoring the fighters); the marathon's are (or can be) beams... while the chornii are interceptable.

Big difference between 2/45, 12 speed and 1/45 and the 8 or so the chornos has.

Its not bad for an improved olympus- but it isn't a quality raid. I would place it between a skirmish and a raid in value. Yet another arguement for points :)

Maybe a 3 for 2 raid; or 2 for 1?
