the type 99 is a tough call, as it isnt realy great at anything but its cheap enough to take one, over say an alternative.

In the 3 times I've seen it played it always seems to die in one shot from the Chall II or M1.

In the game this weekend (PLA vs. EFTF), the T-99 was was missed entirely on the first shot (roll of a 2) and died on the second shot even in cover.

I still managed to pull off a win for the PLA, but that was through forcing my opponent to divide his infantry and forcing the Challenger II into tight quarters denying it LOS on half my force while I pummelled the groundpounders. It came down to the final round of play and I was only 1 model away from being shattered.

At this point, I'm of the opinion that you are almost better off taking more infantry over the T-99.
