War without End?

Way back in Signs and portents 31 Mongoose announced in June it would release A war without end a game using the old molds for Land combat based from the out of business company AOG. Whatever happened to that?

You know what is the greatest thing ever about wikipedia? If you start with one fairly long page, and you click on every internal link there, and you click on the internal links in the links you just clicked, and so on and so forth, you eventually end up reading every last article there is on that website. I have learned so much through wikipedia. Just like that Development Hell thing. I found it while doing a search for Half-Life 2 a while back...

ANYWAY, I heard mutterings of War Without End, but never really knew much about it other than 'Ground Combat in B5 universe', anything more specific?

Also, you dont think perhaps Mongoose has halted development so that it can make use of the :Evolution ruleset?

Unlikely, I would think, as they use a very different scale. So unless they want to toss all the models they have for it...

They were going to base it off of the ACtA rules. Heavily modified of course. I hope they find the people/time to get it back on its feet again as I would love to have a nice large scale ground war game set in the B5 universe.

there is a train of thought that the Evo rules can cover any scale, any setting....

WWE wasn't that similar to ACTA iirc, it never got beyond a first draft unfortunately :(

Only poorly. Small models=focus should be on command&control rather than invidual units. Evo rules don't have any sort of mechanism to simulate that needed aspect...

I agree with you but I know some in Mongoose see Evo as a catch all system

From the models that were shown off, WWE wouldn't be much different in terms of scale than BF:Evo is. Or at least, they didn't look like tiny little models to me.

They where the old gropos ones wheren't they? They are of a similar scale to epic, 6mm.

I believe that they were about 10mm. Much smaller than BF:Evo anyway.

Unless LDtD is talking about the 28mm models Mongoose made for thye RPG.

The old Gropos models were either 6mm or 10mm. Ie almost 1/3 or almost 1/5 of Evo model sizes...

They were tiny :D

Mongoose has made 28mm B5 models for RPG but not enough for B5:Evolution rules. And way too mixed bags(they WERE made as RPG counters...).

Oh I think they also made was it 10mm scale fighters but that was for small scale space action game they have been planning. Fighter to fighter rather than lots of big ships clashing.

I just remember seeing a bunch of Centauri royal guard, Minbari Warrior Caste and EarthForce officers a long time back. They looked like 28mm figures to me. Certainly not tiny little Epic scale guys.

Those are the RPG counters they made.

a) their sculpt is hardly good enough so even if they would go for Evo they would need to redo them.
b) packets are packaged a "little" inconviniently.
c) they aren't prepaints :D

Those have been done and released long time ago to use in RPG's to help solve the shoot'em'up sequences of RPG game.

I've been buying the Gropos models off Ebay for awhile.
There really cool, wish Mongoose would have a look again at WWE ruleset :?
