Vehicle Rating Question

Hey, does it say anywhere what the conversion/ratio/rule-of-thumb for figureing out "Hull" and "Structure for vehicles is?

Or is this still a great mystery?

Ok, let me add I have looked at the numbers in the smallcraft, and they don't track with the other examples.

Anybody got an Idea or two?

IJ, I'm not sure that MGT really has anything like a consistent model for that yet. I'd love to see something like MGT High Guard's small craft design system done for vehicles, maybe as part of a vehicles book.

The one thing I found disappointing about Mercenary was the section on vehicles and artillery, it seemed more like something for an anime game, then anything following on in the tradition established by Striker or Fusion, Fire, and Steel.

From what it looks like:

- Vehicles coming in around motorcycle size, about 1 Hull and 1 Structure.

- Vehicles coming around car size, about 2 Hull and 2 Structure. Enclosed car-sized vehicles such as ground cars gain +1 Hull.

- Military vehicles have 5 Hull and 5 Structure, and heavy vehicles such as GCarriers get 8 Hull and 8 Structure, possibly higher for MBTs (10 Hull / Structure?)

Between civilian car-sized transportation and military transports, one might expect large transports such as buses, trucks and articulated trucks.

- Van: 3 Hull, 3 Structure.

- Civilian bus: 4 Hul, 4 Structure.

- Civilian excavator (JCB): 4 Hull, 4 Structure.

- Truck: 5 Hull, 5 Structure.

- Heavy Truck: 6 Hull, 6 Structure.

That's roughly my guess, based on what I read in the table on p. 103. Scouts has more vehicles, and I'll refine my model based on what I read there, once I get my copy.

Well, my high guard is somewhere on/under the british channel on its way to being replaced, but IIRC it says that a hull of TL12 materials have one point of structure and hull per 50 displacement tons. Lower materials have less, higher more.

That'S the only rule I know of, and would give most vehicles a rating of zero.

There is a conversion chart in the Smallcraft construction section that gives structure in "personel" terms.
