TV Shows You DON'T Want To See Made Over For Traveller ...

I was just thinking of the sort of TV series I would not want to see made over for Traveller.

Two of them spring to mind immediately:-

Defying Gravity

and

Lexx

Actually, Lexx would be pretty much impossible to write up with the Traveller rules. Illustrating the sourcebook would be kind of problematical, to say the least ...

Oh, come now. How can anyone pass up such great stuff as:

Desperate Free Traders
All My Aslan
One CharGen to Live
Guiding Star
CSI: Sword Worlds

and so on... :P :P :P

That one could be good for laughs.
"If we can't prove the case in a week, Ulfgar will declare bloodfeud."

Another one would be the old show Quark. The concept might work (the anime 'Planetes' is a serious treatment of the same basic idea), but the show itself was just another sitcom.

Hi,

I hope I'm not getting too far off topic, but with respect to "Planetes", I have always felt that once you get past the first few episodes (which kind of mostly just set up the basic premise) the anime show is actually very very good, with a great overarching story, and many great ideas and themes for role playing situations and NPC characters etc.

I was referring to Quark when I said "just another sitcom", actually. I rather liked Planetes.

Hi,

Sorry for my mis-understanding.

While I think a setting in the near term future would be very interesting, I've never really been a big fan of trying to directly port an existing setting to a game becuase they never really seem to fully fit. A completely independent near term future setting could be cool though.

True Blood - just would not be Traveller
Salvage 51
V - new series
Star Trek - been done so many times
Firefly - for as much as I can point and say that is Traveller, it also is not Traveller
Logan's Run - Could never like it.

Star fleet - just cos we would HAVE to have the music in the background and its toooo good not to listen to.

Space Cops

The Tripods

The adventure game

Life on mars

Legends of the Seeker

Have no fear of that show ever being produced by me.

I'm quite enjoying Seeker. Admittedly, it started from a very low base, but it is definitely the most improved show this year, and kicks Heroes (and Flash Forward, for that matter) ass for sure.

It does have two primary assets (that'd be Brigit Regan's cleavage) and has gained a few more this season (namely in the shapely, tight red leather-clad, and thoroughly murderous Kara, who is my new favourite character, after Lafayette and Jason Stackhouse from True Blood, obviously :))

Earth: Final Conflict.

Dark Skies.

The X - Files.

Oh. Sorry. Scratch that.

Torchwood - no, no, sorry, scratch that, too ... :)

UFO? Thunderbirds? The Champions? Cleopatra 2525?

Crime Traveller?

Beverly Hills 90210

House

The Golden Girls

Charlie's Angels

uh - strike that - last is ok as long as well illustrated :P
