Trying an Orieni Conversion or "We are like the Drakh&q

Lone Gunman

Mongoose
So, I once used to play the old AOG B5 game but not really got into any fleet or the rules. They were a bit like book keeping, which I did that time in my job and so had no real intention to do this in my free time too.

Two years ago I got the old B5 historical book detailing early campaigns of the Centauri against a race named Orieni. This weekend, I was a exhibition and played a demo of B5 ACTA and found it to be my stile of space combat. Fast, many ships and no oversized book keeping. After reading through the core books and the Drakh supplement (I always loved the sidious bad guys anyway  ) I looked again at the Orieni.

Do they already exist as an official fleet or a fan conversion?
And if not, I noticed some similarities between Drakh and Orieni. Both uses massiv capitol ships and a large number of small frigates. Any tips how to convert them to ACTA standard?

There is a fan conversion somewhere on the boards, wickedE perpetrated it, the stats were [Spock impression] interesting.[/Spock impression.] You can search for it, they haven't come up that often.
It's a bad idea to convert directly from B5 to ACtA- the process results in very heavily armed, very fragile ships. Think practical rather than maximum gun ranges, relative performance rather than absolute, convert hull by comparison with other ships in it's class rather than probabilities.

Ahhh no. I did the Hyach, of which I plan to test out one of these days, Har Har. I'd totally do Orieni if I could find enough backstory and ship descriptions.

There you go :) Look for "WARS OF THE CENTAURI REPUBLIC" and get to work... That's everything that there is.

I did the fan conversion for the Orieni
i will search for it later but i think it was many months ago so it may take me a while to find

ok i searched through all my posts and cant find it.
it doesnt help that i cant remember exactly when i posted it but when i searched for all posts by me it came with 290 out of 1345 so i dont know where the Orieni post went. i will retype it up in the next few days when i find the notes on them

So, yesterday evening I finished two conversion of Orieni ships.

Benevolent Scout (Raid PL)

Speed:f 10" Damage: 16/5 Craft: 1 Flight Hunter Killer, 1 Flight Templar
Turn: 1/45 Crew: 22/6 Traits: Jump Point, Scout, Stealth 4+,
HK-Controll/2
Hull: 4 Troops: -

Weapon RNG Arc AD Traits
Laser Lance 15 F 3 Beam, Super AP
Missile Rack 30 T 2 Precise, Slow Loading, Super AP
RGR 5 F 6 AP, Anti Fighter
RGR 5 A 4 AP, Anti Fighter
RGR 5 P 4 AP, Anti Fighter
RGR 5 S 4 AP, Anti Fighter

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Commune Battle Leader (Skirmish)

Speed: 12 Damage: 15/4 Craft: None
Turn: 2/45 Crew: 15/3 Traits: Dodge: 4+ KH-Controll/3
Hull: 4 Troops:1

Weapon Rng Arc AD Traits
Laser Lance 10 F 2 Beam, Super AP
RGR 5 F 4 AP, Anti Figher
RGR 5 A 4 AP, Anti Figher
RGR 5 P 4 AP, Anti Figher
RGR 5 S 4 AP, Anti Figher

I introduced the Trait HK controll to represent the computer to controll them. HKs were in effect remote controlled fighters dedicated to ram enemy ships. So they would also become a viable patrol level choice, but giving the problem of the ramming rules I somehow had to limit them. A HK can make a ram attack instead of moving, making an attack roll with 1 AD, Super AP and Precise. In either case, the fighter is destroyed after the attack. Each ship equiped with HK controll can command a certain number of flights. The number of active HK flights on the table top can never exceed this number. If a ship with this trait is destroyed, an equal number of HK to the HK controll score is lost an removed from play.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So, that's my first try. I had no time to playtest them, but hope that they are somehow in line.

Please comment.
