I have read some of the man's work and to me it sounded like tripe to justify 'might makes right'- the classic cry of the tyrant.

I think that's preciselly where is the misunderstanding; I'll try to explain.

First, I'll tell you about my view of life. I hate capitalism, regimes, and republics which elect a candidate to presidency just to treat as a king instead a government employee, betraying what "democracy" means. I hate views egotistic and selfish. I basically think that people should work for the sake of others, instead of themselves. I hate work exploitation, left alone slavery, and sexual or racial discrimination. I'm not communist because I don't trust the idea of "state". Therefore, I'm a kind of anarchist. I hate power, and social strata, etc. My favorite stories ever are Blake's 7, V for Vendetta, The Fight Club, and so on. No, I don't like tyrants, anyones ruling over others, and never was able to abuse my power to any degree, because I never took any power, despite the times I could have done so.

Politically speaking, anarchy is a bit more complicated that this.
Without laws, you can't have rights and can't thus defend them. You can't have responsabilities too. As humans are gregarious they can't live without a society and without a system (only hermits do this) or you could only have food from loot or foraging.
If you plant your own garden, why should it be a property when there is no law to proove it and how would you defend your garden from others who find it easier to steale.
You must assign at least people to some tasks but then this is becoming an organization.

That's because anarchy, as a political system, depends on people's behaviour. Anarchy is not what the propaganda of other governments make of it, that is, people hurting one another because there's no law, just chaos and destruction; this is a stupid premise, because no one would want to create a political or philosophycal system for society proposing than harming people is a good thing.

Anarchism is the belief or philosophy about the lack of rulers, since the figure of a ruler always ends in corruption and abuse, and the consequent unhappines of other people. Imagine that you could dedicate your life to your dream job instead of your current job that you hate, and which has been imposed to you by our capitalist society; you have to pay for tons of things an exagerated price, most of them you really don't need, and the final result is that the rich become richer.

Of course, anarchism is a social system, so it doesn't predicate chaos, but organization withouth rulers, or any state that centralizes power. In such a system, should do what they feel they should do instead what they're told, and so they would finally dedicate part of their job time to do things for the community; a new bridge is needed, we all go to build it freely. A new building is needed, the same.

Of course, this depends much on the people to be civic and altruist, and therefore is, almost seemengly idealistic. But worth fight for, I think.

If you want to read a marvelous book about the organization of an anarchist society, and it's flaws because of the egoism of people (or how the mass works), go read The Dispossessed by Ursula K. LeGuin, easily one of the best science fiction books ever by easily one of the best science fiction writers ever.

Nah-I'm flesh bound and falliable. If I am wrong about this than I can't undo it so thus I leave that sort of thing to higher Beings than I.

*Sigh* I seem to have kicked up a hornet's nest here. Hardly logical but it seems to be serving a purpose in the airing of opinions long held in check. This is one example why I don't find logic convincing. There was no logical way to predict this would happen so a logical person wouldn't have moved in this direction. Since I am intuitive person I had no problem going with the flow and was rewarded with healthy, thought provoking conflict.

On the other hand the Conan related material of this topic seems to have fled screaming....my apologies.

One thing I will state- I have no overarching solution to the whole mess of human civilization. I just recognize that there is a mess and trusting that all systems lead towards balance I progress intutively with the flow- not logically to what I perceive to be the desired goal. Follow the heart, not the head I say. It knows better.
