Traveller Release Schedule 2025

I tried to look around a bit to find it, but came up empty: what IS Cluster Truck?
Cluster Truck (working title...): For centuries the Truckers have kept the worlds of the Estuary Cluster connected. Long years, hard years, but proud years. Trucking is a way of life, even if it ends with a Trucker’s Wake. Now the corporate shipping lines want to take over the spacelanes. Canaveral Station is under blockade, rigs impounded and crews in the slammer. The only thing left to do is hold a wake for a way of life. This is a complete campaign that will see your Travellers take command of their own small craft, hauling cargo across a system. They will steal potatoes, get covered in frozen beer in deep space, take part in a history-making riot, uncover corporate skullduggery, and smash a blockade while confounding local law enforcement!

Thanks. Sounds great!

It is a new campaign that they just started talking about. The first time they mentioned it, it was called Trucker's Wake, but seems to tentatively be named Cluster Truck now.

‘This is Angry Bird to Slicksilver. The smokeys have bought your diversion. Starting my run.’ ‘Hardhat to Angry Bird. I’m on your six.’ ‘Rocket Jockey here. Commencing… that thing I’m about to do.’ ‘Don’t die, you hear me? Darksky, you there? We’re kickin’ the door open for ya. Seeya on the other side.’

Trucker’s Wake is a complete campaign that will see your Travellers take command of their own small craft, hauling cargo across a system. They will steal potatoes, get covered in frozen beer in deep space, take part in a history-making riot, uncover corporate skullduggery, and smash a blockade while confounding local law enforcement!

That just sounds like a standard Traveller Adventure! :)

It doesn't interest me in the slightest, I was hoping for a full on Third Imperium Merchants campaign, not some silly Duke's of Hazard/Convoy/Smokey and the Bandit riff. CB radio call signs in the 57th century? No, just no.

But it is early days, there may be more to this setting than meets the eye.

For me, variety is important even if I don't use the content directly. I use FFW as a broad backdrop which occasionally interferes with my Travellers plans. A couple of recent examples are their intended route through the Spinward Marches was disrupted due to the outbreak of hostilities resulting in significant changes to their planned jump route. In another session the Imperium Marines insisted on my Travellers providing priority transport to a company of their finest. But that's as much as I have allowed the FFW to interfere so far.

I find Cluster Truck intriguing. I like the name and suggest Mongoose retain it. I'm sure I'll find something useful therein even if I don't run the campaign "as-is". I assume Mongoose has a few time-constrained authors so any new validated content is to be welcomed, I'm always looking for interesting ways to both entertain and divert my Travellers from their objectives

You never know, when I have absorbed enough Traveller lore and cpntext, I may turn my hand to writing too - I wouldn't hold my breath, and I am positive there are many others who already do a far better job than I could, but you never know - but I could be tempted to collaborate...

On the cards, certainly - in fact, we are currently looking at two of them, one based in the Marches and the other in the Islands subsectors.

Basically, after Singularity we are taking a step back from the epic galaxy-shattering events and focussing more on the big stakes/small people campaigns for a little while.

As a fan of multiple games/publishers, Mongoose is downright prolific. Delays happen to everyone (unless maybe they don't care about quality), but getting 4+ books a year is a luxury not enjoyed by fans of a lot of other RPGs.

And also, we are primarily creative-led, so when a fun project comes along it is entirely possible for things to get bumped in favour for a book that has someone here fired up. Cluster Truck is certainly one of those.

It is beginning to look that way. Will stay unless a better idea turns up.

Well, I too, would like a proper merchant ship campaign. Not just for my own use, but because I think the game needs some attention on what a merchant campaign looks like beyond the speculative trade rules, which were dubious in the 70s and beyond ancient these days :D From various discussions, it seems to me that a lot of groups struggle with how to actually run such a game as still being about adventures, not chart rolling.

But I also have a fondness for a certain amount of 70s style silliness :D More to the point, though, it has a high chance of having things I can steal for my campaign even if I don't use it directly as is (I am not generally a "I am running this adventure path as my campaign" type person and this sounds like it has a pretty distinctive start point.)

And to go along with the merchant campaign, you need your expanded Merchant Prince rules to cover it all from small traders to megacorporations. This is Traveller. It's long past time to have that book.

I have to say the Dukes of Hazard could be a great vibe for a Traveller campaign! lol

I also am in the camp of really wanting a Merchant Campaign and a Merchant Prince book.

I am currently running a Merchant Campaign where the characters are beyond the Vanguard Reach running supplies to new colonies. The ship has powerful engines not to go further but so they can haul more stuff in the form of Docking Clamps, Jumpnets, any and everything they can get their hands on to increase hauling capacity. They turned a 600 ton merchant into a GEM that can haul far more then their weight.

This is the crew that I will be sending off to a far region or into the future.
