If the locals were rich enough, they'd be able to import some shiny new ships and drives from the Solomani, some 17 parsecs distant.

Am getting some 5E vibes written into Cluster Truckers, or is it just me?
Perhaps do not play William Shatner's version of Space Truckin while reading

The campaign is based around (initially) no ship players. Working their way up from janky boats to bigger, not as janky boats and eventually alleged starships is the journey. Any ship shares you get in character creation are traded in as choice skill points, including the campaign special skill Trucker Lore (which can also be obtained instead of J-o-T. Gosh... something to use that fourth J-o-T advance on!)Is the idea in the campaign that every player has their own starship/rig/etc, or is it the regular assumed Traveller setup where all players are the crew of a single vessel?
Alien is a trucker movie all about why you should never stop to pick up a hitchhiker.
