What is a "Merchant's Edition"? This seems like false advertising, as I doubt they wrote new rules to actual make being a merchant a thing. Every time I bring up merchants, I get told that there are no rules for merchants, only for Travellers, playing at being merchants.

lol. Okay, I find that kind of funny. I like these starter edition rules books. $1 for the core rules with a focused subset of chargen is great idea for getting new folks into the game. I'm kind of amused by the idea of a slipcase collection of them, though.

Then Traveller: Crime Edition. Just hand out out to each player based on the career they are going for. Then they fail out and have to trade around... :D

It was on my wish list a while ago, more intro books like the Explorer's Edition, one for Merchants, one for Mercenaries and one for Space Guard (a planetary to empire wide navy book). And a slipcase for the set :)

Explorers was Scouts & Scientists. Mercenaries would obviously be Army & Marines. Crime could be Agents & Rogues. Merchants would have Merchants and ? Pirates? Or would Pirates be part of the Space Guard book?

I like the idea of having a Colonial Navy career, but I'm not sure how different it would really be from the basic Space Navy career. It would mostly be for funsies when you muster out of the Imperial Navy and then sign up for a Planetary Navy.

Maybe a little too deep in the weeds here? It wouldn’t vary (or maybe just a bit because page count) from full-on Core. It shouldn’t vary at all IMO.

We have 18 Core careers, 3 per book would be 6 in a slipcase but Explorers’ is just 2. It leaves a career dangling, Noble IMO would be the one to get their own book. So 7 in a slipcase for the full set.

$7 for all the Core careers…

I just plucked the name space guard out of my you know what. I didn't want to use In the Navy, nor did I want to use Space patrol.

I wonder if the Merchant Edition will have two careers? Merchant and...

Army-Marine
Agent
Navy
Noble
Entertainer
Citizen-Drifter

Army-Marine + vehicle combat, mass combat

What other combinations and rule expansions?
