Traveller Release Schedule 2024

Please note that release dates listed here are expected PDF releases and pre-order dates - printed editions will likely appear 3-4 months later. Though we will be updating this particular post rather than appending more, you are welcome to make comments and ask questions in this thread!

September
Opening Moves:
This extended adventure showcases the state of play on the eve of the war, describing the early clashes along with activities on the periphery, such as small forces in the Trojan Reach and Zhodani allies there. Word is spreading that the Zhodani have invaded, but there are no clear orders. Best decisions must be made, making a token defence at an outmatched system and maybe surrendering.

November
The Borderland:
Comprising two system clusters in the Reach on the edge of the Great Rift, the Borderland is the perfect sandbox for a campaign - plenty of places for Travellers to explore but confined enough for a Referee to predict where they will go next! This book fleshes out the worlds and peoples of the Borderland as a backdrop to an entire Referee-created campaign.

Core Expeditions: The Zhodani expeditions towards the galactic core are perhaps the greatest exploratory endeavours Humaniti has ever attempted. What drives them? What have they encountered? What is it like to be part of their scouting fleets or outpost building crews? Take part in pushing back the frontier on the very cutting edge of Charted Space.

In the works and to be slotted into the schedule in the not too distant future:

Legend of the Sky Raiders
Pioneer
Singularity
2300AD: Invasion
2300AD: Building the Frontier
FFW: Riverland Front
FFW: Brushfires
FFW: Consular Envoy
FFW: The Lanth Campaign
The Ine Givar
Armies of the Fifth Frontier War

As noted before, everything is subject to change and rescheduling, but all the titles above have either already been written and are undergoing layout, or are in some stage of writing!
Since Gier is openly taking solicitations on things for the Vehicle Handbook update, you should add it to the list so we can obsess about it. More. Obsess about it more.

And maybe we'll see the official answer about whether grav trains are viable!
I'm tossing back in the grav rail (gravlev ?) thing as an option, only because it's an 'improvement' on the maglev. Not sure I'm buying the 'airfilm' thing... is that a thing anywhere? And I'm putting in lifters as an auxiliary drive options (in addition to a full-on auxiliary grav drive). So I suppose you could also make a trackless 'sky-train', but I'm gonna have to put in some serious agility and control penalties if you start tacking on a string of towed vehicles in the sky. Or on the ground, or on (under?) the water for that matter. (Many many moons ago, I briefly held a job as an airport ramp employee for a small airline - running those luggage cart trains was not easy: Rule number one: NEVER back up.)

Still, I think the most viable mass grav vehicle method would be more of a swarm of drone vehicles, with maybe one controller vehicle. It would withstand weather a lot better and be able to land and take off in a staggered manner rather than come plowing into the grav train station.

But I figure my job is to put reasonable working tools out there and if someone wants to build a skytrain or a flying submarine, have at it. Nothing like a little kitbashing.

This would use the original meaning of "train" before railroads were a thing.

I've been assembling all sector maps from the books I own into a global map, and was surprised how patchy it looks, regarding the 3rd Imperium (except the spinward part, it's quite complete). I was wondering : is the intent to release sector books for all imperium sectors in this edition, or is it a non goal?

That would be roughly a dozen double sector books just on the Imperium.
I guess they focus on interesting sectors that are full of tensions & excitement and/or rich with history.

8, from what I counted. Which could be a lot or not that much, depending on for how long the edition is going to go on.

I tried to cobble a map together as well.

Yours is more complete that mine, you're closer to the bingo :) (I only have the mgt2 maps). Thanks for sharing, by the way, this should be pinned somewhere, as it helps finding in which book to find which map.

I also figured I can complete my map thanks to travellermaps' api, which allows to download sector map very similar to mongoose ones, for example: https:// travellermap.com/api/poster?scale=128&options=9211&style=mongoose&sector=Verge

Thanks Joshua!

EDIT: I've splitted the URL in two, so that bots don't follow it and overload the server, it's a work intensive request. Just remove the spaces after "https://" to fix it.

And with only two double sectors books we could link the Spinward marches to Core and the Trailing frontier (A book with Vland and Lishun, and a book with Antares and Empty Quarter, or Fornast and Delphi. It works with Gushemege and Dagudashaag too with the Reft transit). That would be a great beginning.

A sector book about Vland is actually the one I'm most looking forward to : I would love exploring this sector, given all the history it must have around.

Here's the map again. Yellow sectors are those not included in the map from 'This is Free Trader Beowulf'

Crucis Margin is from 'Crucis Margin' by Judges' Guild
Dagudashaag is from 'The Encyclopaedia of Dagudashaag'
Diaspora is from 'Astrogator's Guide to Diaspora' for MegaTraveller
Glimmerdrift Reaches is from 'Glimmerdrift Reaches' book, also by Judges' Guild
