A recent post in the Traveller forum brings up a good question.
On page 67 of High Guard, the rules states
"Staterooms require 4 tons at a cost of MCr 9.5 per stateroom. Staterooms actually average about 2 tons, but the additional tonnage is used to provide corridors and access ways, as well as galley and recreation areas."
From the beginning of Traveller, a stateroom has always been drawn as displacing 3 tons (2 x 3 on a grid). By the rule stated in High Guard, it should instead be 2 x 2.
The original core rulebook listed staterooms as 2x2, but that was declared an error and errata was released with corrected drawings. All the other books show staterooms as 3 x 3 on the deckplans, which makes them displacing 3 tons instead of the 2 listed.
So which is correct? Is the rule on page 67 an error, or are all the deckplans that have been released incorrect?
