High and Luxury Staterooms Life Support

1. Regulation - the French have mandated that you can't have air routes below a certain distance.

2. Efficient public transportation.

3. Follow the money.

4.

5. When your business life depends on timing and efficient use of your time, you'll want independent means of transportation.

6. And you'd have to understand how socio economic politics work, I suppose, in a particular culture, that itself was deliberately mutated.

Speaking of cattle class.

How much life support does a cow need?

More importantly, how much does it cost?
High Guard has an entry for Stables. They need to be bought as a minimum 10 tons (enough for 10 cattle) and the life support cost for Cr250 per ton/cow.

The question would be, does that cow cost me an additional two thousand starbux per month?

While onboard.
Not in beef form. You just need a refrigerated cargo hold. Or you can vacuum freeze them, but that kind of ruins the texture... I would suppose.

I know this is off topic, but I have often wondered how long until the cost to fly pushes people back to trains and buses? :(

Unlike out fictional world of space travel we do have alternatives.

I think people just stop traveling. They simply don't go. If people have to travel for work, the company pays. If it gets too expensive, there will be more virtual conferences.

That largely depends on the state of your life support tech.
Who needs the cow when you've got teets in a vat circulating O2 and feedstock?
That's a pretty creepy biosphere unit...

The whole idea of transporting a bay of livestock is very Firefly, but it doesn't seem like the best way to go. Since the Low Passage idea was originally borrowed from a livestock frozen sleep sort of thing, it would likely go back to that: double (or quadruple) sized low berths for a few cows and a whole old of frozen embryos or, um, their bull-produced precursor material.

I guess it depends on how deep you want to go into speculative trade cargo side-adventures. Transporting 10 tons of animals could just be be four or five frozen cows and a vat of... stuff in a long cargo container. Or it could involve lassos and chaps. Yeah, never mind.

I think we've wandered off the original post a bit... and for some reason I now want to go to Outback Steakhouse.
