Traveller B5 vs B5 d20

GreyKat

Mongoose
I bought recently the Babylon 5 DVDs and I'm in love with the show.
I took a look at what's available for a B5 RPG and found out that
I kinda missed the boat with Mongoose removing all their products last year.

However, I could get my hands on both the B5 d20 2nd edition and the Universe of Babylon 5 books.
I already have MGT Core and love the Traveller system but from what I heard of UoB5 wasn't a really great book.
And there are a lot more d20 B5 products "available".

Which one do you suggest I pickup and why?

Thank you very much.

I have both the Babylon 5 RPG 2nd Ed. and the Universe of Babylon 5
book. If you have no problem with the d20 system (I do not like it at
all), I would recommend the Babylon 5 RPG 2nd Ed., simply because
it has a lot more pages and more content than the Traveller version.

I'm not really a big fan either but could be convinced if it's the better version.

I would agree - the older D20 books have much more background information, plot ideas etc. the 2nd Ed book, IIRC, goes through the first (maybe second) Season episodes and gives you ideas for your own stories. Lots of info on ther main cast etc. Loads of background stuff.

Also the Traveller version had to have the b5 ships crowbarred into the Traveller ship design rules and has quite a few pages of increadbly hard to read deckplans.

There were some very good bargins floating around ebay recently for most of the source books.

Having worked on both, I always felt that d20 was a much better fit on all accounts for B5. I did ALOT of work in the d20 game, so if you decide to go that route and have any questions...drop me a line and I'll sort you out.

Cheers,
Bry
