Tourney Rules Clarification!!!!!!

Me and the Adster have just had a bit of practise for Sat's tourney and we desperately require clarification of 2 jump point related issues:

1: Direction of opening jump points, at what point is the facing of the jump point stated? before any scatter rolls? Or After said scatter rolls?

2: Ships coming through the jump point, as per Rule Book 1. Page 18, Para 4, Line12 can we have that extremely clarified because if you wish to be uber bar stweard ALL ships coming through a jump point suffer the penalties, don't shoot me read the appropriate section and see what it says (obviously discounting AJP).

Love you all and see you there Sat, unless I die of dice death!!!!!!!!!

1) you place the jump point with the desired position and facing before you roll for deviation. when the JP deviates (if at all) the the facing remains constant, i.e the motion of the JP counter is only translational not rotational.

2) A ship coming through a jump point suffers restrictions if that ship lkacks the AJP trait. A ship with the AJP trait suffers no restrictions.

It does not matter whether a JP or AJP ship opened the point being moved through.

1. Its Randomly scattered on opening, but I think the direction stays the same doesnt it?

2. All ships passing through the JP cant fire, or commit SA's. So if you open a JP in turn 1, its not going to be until Turn 3 before your ships can fire , and do SA's. Unless of course, you have AJP, in which case you can fire ;)

Depending on the scenario, and pace of game. I think JP, might actually be a curse. Whatever you put in there, you are going to be denying yourself an attack. Saying that, you might also be saving some ships from being mauled, so I suppose its got good and bad parts to it ;)

Arrr...I wuz just about te chime' in wid'da same answer, but my shipmates 'ave beaten me to the rum t'day....

Worth noting that the ship holding the jump point open is not able to fire due to the restrictions of the initiate jump point action I believe. AJP does not seem to immunize you from the SA only traveling through. Course I say this not having my books in front of me to check but I can be wrong.

A ship with AJP can perform an SA when coming through another ship's jump point, but not if coming through its own.

So, a Hermes could open a jump point, then a Warlock could come through it on CAF. But if the Warlock opened the jump point itself, it could not CAF.

So just that I have this completely right

Any ship coming through a jump point, even one made by another ship, suffer the restrictions as per the rule book, except of course AJP ships.

Yep!

Your reading of the rule wasn't what everyone else plays it as and hence your confusion over the way it's worded.

And AJP ships suffer no restrictions when coming through a Jump point, except if they opened the jump point thenobviously they are using their SA to do that, but they may turn and fire at will.

EDIT: And if we learned anything at the first Mongose ACTA tourney, way back when WS had dodge 5+, if you're going to have ships in hyperspace, then bring them in in the first turn ASAP or you're just wasting time.
