Tourney on 16th... what have I let myself in for?

Captain Jay said:
Maybe. I'd say pride is at stake in both.

Pride is probably more at stake on the gaming table. I find you can take more pride out of a well fought defeat, than whitewashing someone. As to fighting on the street, I'd probably take the first oppertunity to just leg it.

Hell, I've only been posting for an hour and already I've got someone's back up. Silvereye, everything I have said is meant as fun, and I am only here to make friends, not annoy anyone. Hope you haven't taken anything to heart?

Wha? You certainly havn't come anywhere close to offending me.

Sorry Silvereye, might be my misunderstanding... I'm just very conscious on forums that people can react in different ways, and I thought you'd taken me the wrong way. Oh, and for the record, I can't fight worth a damn...

Lets try to drag this topic kicking and screaming back to where it started, hey?

So, I think I'm gonna go with my original fleet selection (which I'm not going to tell you, in the interest of some competitiveness). Based on what has been said I don't think it's a particularly stupid choice - I don't have all my eggs in one basket, I've got a fair amount and mix of firepower, I've got a lot of maneouvrability and I might even have a trick or two up my sleeve.

I'm gonna get creamed.

GL
Oh and all that "Minbari don't kill other Minbari" rubbish - I'm not going to stick to that if I play you ;)

Only 1 person is gonna get creamed and thats gonna be me!

Easy points for anyone playing me

I'm not going to the tourney, so if you want to PM me your suggested fleet I'll pass on any comments back to you.

Yeah, cheers Burger. I'll be watching for you on Saturday... my boneheads will have your boneheads crying like little girls. I bet yours are religious caste anyway - robes, robes, always with the robes... mine are warrior caste. Extendable fighting poles FTW! :

Just my opinion, but I think stealth is now too weak. Just get within 8", send in some fighters to do Scanners To Full, and stealth rolls become "anything but a 1" on a Stealth 4+ ship. With weak Minbari hulls, thats going to hurt a lot.

Even a stealth 5+ ship will be reduced to "anything but a 1" simply by Scouting, STF!, and getting within 8".

not too weak, just makes you think more abuot how to use your ships, use those 18" range fusion canons or whatever, the minbari arnt supposed to be an up close and personal brawler race and now thats represented better. i know some ships have the up close weapons but doesnt mean you have to rush in, am sure they also have longer range weaons and even if they dont hold them back until you cant move away anymore then rush in and unleash hurty death.

Whats wrong with robes... they are comfortable, and allow freedom of movement :p
Not like your nasty black costumes. I bet your laundry bills are horrendous.

kat, like I said its just my opinion, I'm not really looking for a debate on it right now. I haven't played it enough in practice for that. But, it is very hard to "stay at range" in this game... the enemy ATPE's and they are on top of you in 2 turns.

true, but the other advantage of minbari is they are fairly mobile and tend to have mini beams all round so APTE right back through them and deal with rear weapons instead :)

Not really, Warrior Caste Don't Sweat. We don't have dandruff either.

To weigh in on the 'Stealth' debate, I've only played a bit with either rule, and it does seem to me that it makes it a little more fair that there is a reduction to stealth if targets are at close range - and this is coming from a Minbari player. Speaking for myself, I would base tactics on the assumption that my ships WILL get hit by enemy fire, and if they don't because of stealth, well, that's just a bonus... and because Minbari ships are fast, and will therefore close with the enemy quickly, and get in that close target range, it also means that they can bug out real quick too...

Remember that the new Stealth rules are used with the SFoS Minbari Damage/Crew figures...

Yeah I realize that... it goes part way to balance the nerf but IMO the stealth change was OTT. Maybe -1 for within 4" and +1 at greater than 15" would be better. But 8" range is too easy to get into.

altho considering the size of bases getting fighetrs withing 1" to ignore stealth entirely will be difficult.
Not now that fighters can sit on top of the bases. At least I get 1 VP for each one I obliterate with my fusion cannons now ;)

That has apparently already been addressed - Matt has stated that fighter stands/counters can go on top of base stands to get into contact. Sorry, don't know how to link to the thread, I'm a luddite.

Actually, I thought fluff wise it would have been better if stealth was reversed: a base ship of stealth 4 would have 3 over 20" and 5 within 8" as it is stated in the series (In the Beginning for example) that how closer the MiNbari came, the more sensors and targetlocks got scrambled...
