Tournament Miniatures

Mongoose
Hopefully someone from Mongoose will respond to this posting:

In future ACTA:SF tournaments will I be able to use Starline 2400 miniatures, as B5 Wars minis were allowed in ACTA:B5 tournaments?

If this is the case, then why should I not cancel my current orders with Mongoose for 4 x Fleet boxes and order replacements direct from another supplier. That way I can have product in my hand within a couple of weeks.

Currently, I believe I will be lucky to see my Feds before the end of March and my Klinks, Gorn and Kzinti before the end of July!

Lets face it, does anyone believe this is going well, has anyone got any Fleet mini's yet?

Real shame, as every time I play this, the rules sparkle and I really love the system.

Digger,

I agree this is a great game. I have spent over $1100.00 in SL 2400's in the last 2 weeks and have received everyone in no more than 3 days after ordering them. Once the decision was made to go to metal, why not do 2400's. And as consumers, we have something to say (we vote with our wallets).

I know there are tourneys that are allowing 2400's.

To be fair I'm pretty dubious about the 2500s now, because we're about to enter month 4 of being told that we'll be getting them soon.

There is a decent range of 1/3788 stuff from ADB, the FASA stuff is the same scale and various other bits and bobs.

The only 1/3125 scale ship I have is an Excelsior which I'll have to write rules for anyway, and that's only an investment of £4.50.

If Matt can confirm that in fact no one has a fleet box on the way to them yet, maybe it's time to go with 2400. I'm interested in Tholians as a third fleet to go with Feds and Klingons, and it isn't looking like they'll be out anytime soon in 2500.

Will they be banned at official tournaments though?

Honest answer?

No, because that will kill the game. When the timeline was tight, we were happy for people to use 2400's in existing fleets because, well, it would have been a bit nasty not to. Now there is a greater lead time and we can be sure of getting models to people ahead of the tournament, that no longer really applies.

We run tournaments to promote the game and minis line, and if we cannot do that, well, the line will just wither and die. It is not the rulebooks and game engine that support the line - it is the miniatures.

Of course, what you do in your own tournaments is your business, and nothing to do with us!

Well... no, I can't - Fed fleet sets have been shipping out for the past two weeks, and a veritable flood is going out this week and next. By that time the Romulans will have been completely converted to metal and the Klingons won't be far behind.

I can only confirm that fleet sets have not only been going out, but that it is likely some people reading this have them.

hahaha

Perhaps when these Mythical Fleet Boxes start arriving you should ask people to start a thread with confirmed delivery of said fleet boxes. Complete with pictures!

Honestly, Im dont believe you are capable of honesty at this point.

Hold on, we have no miniatures and have been waiting since November - What do you expect us to do! Not play the game?

At least we are trying to play the game and are you saying if someone pays to to play in a tourney but turns up with say Kzinti 2400 miniatures, then they will be turned away?

I have ordered in excess of £200 worth of product and still have seen nothing, and you wonder why we are looking for alternatives to play what is an excellent game!

Well duh. It's tournament they run to promote their own products. You think Mongoose is doing this for charity?

You think Mongoose is interested in running tournaments if all it does is cost them time and effort? If it doesn't lead to more sales of 2500 models it's wasted tournament for them.

Not 2400 models, not some home made models, not some chinese piracy models. 2500 models. Sales of those is what they need and which is why they set up tournaments to begin with.

Answer me this? Whats the point of running a tournament to support and boost sales on a miniature line that they can't physically make the models for and ship them to would be clients.

I find it rather comical that they are trying to still host tournaments when they cant even get more then five ship models out and it has taken them over four months to do that for a game they were "set to release" in November.

a) nobody can be narrow minded enough to believe this will stay like this forever
b) they have produced lot more than 5 models already...

And of course if somehow it turns out they would not be able to produce models at all(as if) then what will happen is no tournaments from Mongoose. After all they are negative cash flow events for them then. Mongoose ain't doing this for charity. Their workers have bills to pay.

But of course pointless to argue with someone like you. No point replying since I won't read your posts anymore.

What a cowardly way to end a conversation. No point in replying since I wont read your post anymore? Brilliant!

And no, the individual Fleets, there are no more then 5 ships that anyone has seen. While Im sure the have released some fleet boxes somewhere, I sure have not read anyone saying they have gotten them. Which leaves them with only the Squadron Boxes that have five ships in them. The same five ships that you can order individual and nothing beyond that.

As for the point on how long this can continue? It seems to me that this is the third turn around of "We are shipping them now" comments turned into "going back to resin/re-doing the production line, model quality blah blah whatever the fuck the claim is their foul up".

What is it...fool me once, shame on me. Fool me twice shame on you...there should'nt be a third.

Doing these tournaments for Charity? Im curious to understand how that came about.

Oh yes! Feel free to read & respond to this because I will read it and I may even respond.

I have to admit that although I waited for a while after a succinct complaint to Mongoose the fleet of Romulans (resin) has now arrived, wrapped in the previous purchased Christmas wrapping paper and delivered to the intended recipient. He may even confirm the gift later!

I would say that after the initial complaint Mongoose have communicated effectively and send me information regarding the shipment.

Are you saying you received a Romulan fleet box, or a squadron box? Were there only five ships in it?

I can confirm that Raedil received a Romulan Fleet Box. Here's the story. We were gathered this evening at our regular RPG. Raedil had ordered a fleet box back in November as a christmas present for another member of the group. He has been relentlessly chasing Mongoose over the non-delivery of the fleet box. He has spoken to Mongoose via phone and email several times chasing the delivery. He walked in this evening with a box all wrapped up in Christmas paper and handed over a Romulan Fleet Box, delivered today I believe. Here are the photos to prove it

There was also a graphic novel of some kind in the box, presumably as an apology for the delay. Oh, and the miniatures are all resin, apart from the shuttles, which are metal.

Wow, nice. How is the quality of those minis? I don't mind adding that I'm a little envious.

Maybe it's time to send off a *polite* email to Mongoose?

My God, we have a confirmed receipt of a fleet box. Maybe we are going to get them in March.

Check if there is some sort of certificate in there. Something like 'Romulan Fleet Box, Ltd edition 1/1'.

How relentlessly did he chase?

Thats cool - interested to see the mini rule book as well - any word on how that is - well printed - legible etc?

Hopefully we all get a free grapic novel or two for the wait - or maybe even a few extra ships :)
