[Third Imperium] Confused about Nawal Allegiance

Thile

Mongoose
As I look through the Spinward Marshes book, I find (on page 60) that Narwal (Chronor subsector 0805) is listed as a Zhodani world, but as I got the map pack yesterday it appears as if Narwal lies outside the Consulate sphere.

Please clarify.

Is it a Zho inhabited world, controlled by them, allied to them.

Not anywhere near my books but being outside the main area of Zho space doesn't make it imposible to be listed as a Zho world. There are plenty of worlds with Imperial allegiance outside of the borders of the Imperium.

Cronor was an Imperial dominated Sub-sector lost to the Zho's in the 2nd Frontier War (615-620).

NARVAL/Cronor was an Imperial world that was required to leave Imperium after that war and came loosely under Zho dominion though not direct rule. It has a Zho Naval Base. The original culture here and Whenge were never altered to Zho standards.

They were finally incorporated into the consulate around the 5th Frontier War (exact date unclear) but still no cultural changes as of 1132. Map discrepancies reflect the changes the frontier goes through every few decades.

Though we can hope Mongoose does not slavishly follow GDW off the Rebellion/Virus/Regency/Star Vikings cliff GDW fell off hitting each ledge on the way down, head first.

Falling of the cliff with the Rebellion and landing on 1248 (but around abour 1225-1230) would be fine. Break up the Imperium in to several mini empires with war ravaged wilds between them. Pretend the whole Virus stuff never happened and that the war drew down due to exhaustion and the core states survived intact much as covered in 1248.

You retain the core areas a sector or more in size for that safe adventuring and clasic traveller stuff but now have loads of new frontiers and wildreness areas to explore

Just avoid the killer radio signal that takes over your ships computers and wipes out civilisation bit, please...............
