The Warmonger-Class Battle Tender

The basic Fiery-Class Gunship has some wonky numbers. It claims that 30 marines in barracks require 60 tons. It's only 30. It also only allows 3 tons of common area, where it should be 16. Their crew numbers are slightly wonky too. Even running commercial, they are off. If I go military, they are way off.

I'll make an updated version and try to make it all fit at TL-12. Then I'll bump it to TL-15 and see what I can make happen.

At TL-15, I was able to bump the computer to computer/35 and run most of the programs, make it thrust 9, and upgrade the fusion plant to TL-15 and still have it all fit. Also upgraded the armor for bonded superdense at the same rating.

Now I'll make a non-jump-capable gunboat like it and see what I can manage. Upgraded the armor rating to 15. Added extra sensor capability. Still all fit. I'll write that one up and upload it here.

Now think, that 512 Gunships means 15,360 Marines. Almost 31 Battlions of Marines in one Battle Tender. That is one full Division of Marines, led by a Major General

Not so. They'd be operating as individual platoons, so no overarching command structure. Still a lot of Marines, though.

That would make the gunship Battle Tenders, Planetary Assault Tenders. Better bring that command bridge back on the Warmonger. lol
I never took it out. ;) It has a primary command bridge and a secondary command bridge.

I would need to add cabin space for the command team. How many people would that be?

Depends on which version it was done with. Barracks was 2 tons per in the 2nd edition High Guard, the 2022 update changed this to 1 ton. Common area is only a recommendation, can be less or more.

I think when i get home I want to build the smallest possible ship that can mount thrust 9 and a large bay...

*why cant I build ships easily on my phone... *
I have a 'Destroyer Equivalent BR' which is a work in progress; 30 armor, M-Drive 9, Large Particle Beam Bay, 5000 dTons. I am currently still fiddling to see if I can get it down to 1500 dTons. I probably need to just delete the screens and Marine contingent.

I'm not having much luck figuring out how many officers and support staff a Marine Division would have, but a single Warmonger could house as many as it would need, so that's no obstacle. I'd just need a number to make it happen. Likely the senior officers in high single staterooms and the other officers in standard single staterooms. If anyone could suggest that number of officers, I'll make a version for it.

If someone were really froggy (which I'm not) they could make these a bit bigger (or create some variants) to carry grav tanks and such for a planetary landing. A pair of Warmongers could flood the zone with Marines and invasion vehicles.

See what you did? This is how you take over everything.

There is no reason the primary armament of a Battle Rider could not be 'This flight of fighters' or 'This Marine contingent'. I have a 'Dreadnought Equivalent BR' as a work in progress -- it is 250k dTons; 9-G M-Drive, 30 Armor, 75000 dTons of Spinal Mount. Swap that 75000 dTons out for some other capability; ... ; profit!

Please share the BR when you finish it. That sounds cool.

To amuse myself, I just created The Glass Cannon, a 10,000 ton literal glass cannon with a 7,500 ton meson spinal mount that is accurate and high yield. Nothing else but the minimum required, though it has bonded superdense armor 2 and basic fire control/5. ;) I just wanted to see what the minimum size was to make that happen.

A Warmonger could drop 80 of them.

I thought spinal mounts were limited to 50% tonnage of the vessel? AM I wrong?
