Well they were definitely happy to try the PoW and the Hood. After that they were considerably more cautious about ensuring better odds during the later chase. The final engagement included 2 battleships, 2 heavy cruisers, destroyers and an aircraft carrier, and would have included numerous other ships, several BB, BC or CV, but for low fuel forcing most to withdraw.
I’m not defending the iffy design of the Bismarck or the lucky nature of the shot on the Hood, just pointing out that you’re kinda right but that they changed their minds.
